Job Description

Hobart Brothers Company, an Illinois Tool Works Company, is a recognized leader in the manufacturing and distribution of welding consumables worldwide. This position will address the quality engineering/assurance needs of Hobart Filler Metals. Reporting to the Director of Quality Engineering, this position will be a key member of the quality group leadership team and will help manage contract review, quality/welding evaluations, and provide customer technical support within the Quality group.  The position is located in Troy, Ohio

 Core Responsibilities / Description:

 Perform contract review and manage tested orders while achieving on-time delivery

  • Work with AWS, ASME, ISO, and Military welding codes as well as customer specific weld specifications

  • Support other quality representatives and work with different agencies like CWB, ABS, Lloyds, BV, DNV, and Military to maintain plant audits, product approvals, and certification

  • Maintain required quality documentation by following quality procedures and work instructions

  • Manage in-process tests/product releases to meet customer deadlines

  • Assist with customer satisfaction metrics and product solutions

  • Performs timely and thorough response to customer complaints.

  • Prepare test evaluation reports and letters for customer technical requests

  • Make decisions for any product non-conformity, disposition, and releases

  • Work with R&D/Engineering to bring solutions for product conformance

  • Provide technical support with product certifications – C of C’s, CMTR’s, and C of A’s

  • Implement ITW Tool box techniques in process and role

  • Perform quality engineering improvements in the process and daily operations using quality/statistical tools

  • Manage urgent requests from customers and sales

  • Support receipt inspection and maintain quality data system as needed

  • Occasional travel to other Hobart facilities and customer sites as required

Job Requirements

  • Bachelors in welding or metallurgical or materials science engineering is required.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in welding industry is a plus

  • Hands on experience in welding is preferred

  • Good understanding of FCAW, GMAW, SMAW, and SAW is required

  • Working knowledge and experience with welding and filler metals specifications: AWS, ASME, ISO, and Military is preferred

  • Code experience with different agencies filler metals specifications: CWB, ABS, Lloyds, CE, BV, and DNV is a plus

  • Ability to multi-task on project assignments, manage daily tasks, and prioritize work to complete within deadlines

  • Strong team player and able to coordinate with cross functional teams: Engineering, Production, Lab technicians, Customer Service, Marketing, and Sales

  • Detail oriented mindset to manage Tested Orders and QC Inspection

  • Must have excellent written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills

  • Thorough understanding of computer and web-based technology to support job tasks

  • Ability to drive changes as required

  • Ability to work in fast paced environment for customer support

  • Ability to work with statistical and other quality tools
