BASIC DESCRIPTION:

The individual will understand customer welding requirements in our target market segments and participate in New Product Development and/or Sustaining Engineering projects to ensure our products meet or exceed our customer expectations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • This person will perform weld evaluations with written report for Miller TIG and competitive products, as well as support cross divisional product evaluations. Products include power sources, torches, accessories, and coolers.
  • Understand and develop weld testing procedures with an intent to automate where possible.
  • This person will work closely with Product and Segment managers to conduct end user research for our target market segments to obtain a deep understanding of welding applications and product needs.
  • Duties will include taking incoming application phone calls from end users and Miller/ITW field personnel, occasional travel to end users for onsite support and/or providing welding guidance for customer provided weld sample parts, occasional support of shows and technical events.

Job Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BSWE or BSWET degree required with ability to perform all duties mentioned above.
  • Minimum 1-2 years previous weld engineering experience preferred.
  • Individual must have an expert understanding of and passion for AC/DC GTAW; knowledge of SMAW, CAC-A, GMAW, GMAW-Pulse, FCAW a plus.
  • The individual must be able to learn and understand acquisition of welding current and voltage waveforms, and have ability relate waveforms to welding performance as part of weld evaluations.
  • Individual will have hands on welding experience and be able to perform on an individual basis as well as working within a team setting.
  • This self-motivated individual must be willing to aggressively complete projects on time.
  • This individual should be capable of giving in depth technical presentations.
  • Individuals should demonstrate excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills, and be capable of managing multiple tasks/projects simultaneously.
  • The individual must be detail oriented and possess excellent interpersonal skills in order to relate to all customers, technical, and non-technical audiences.
  • Travel time for this position is up to 20%.
