Job Summary
Hobart Service is looking for an experienced Training Instructor/Developer to join the Training and Technical Information Team.

Under the general direction of the Manager of Training and Technical Information, this role provides assistance and training to Hobart Service field employees. This role has extensive contact with US branch offices, Troy/Piqua personnel, ITW FEG Business Units and International Business Units. Within assigned areas of responsibility, this role conducts and develops training programs in maintenance, service, troubleshooting, and operating procedures as designed for Hobart Service personnel and self-servicers, evaluate performance of training participants and provide appropriate feedback and recommendations to local management for follow-up to enhance service effectiveness and skills development. 

Job Description

Responsibilities (80% Core Essential Functions)
  • Instruct Hobart company technicians and independent servicers in the proper servicing of Warewash (preferred area of expertise), Bakery, Food Machine, or Cooking equipment products through lecture, audio-visual, online self-paced modules, hands-on student involvement and other delivery methods.
  • Provide necessary suggestions, structure and support to maintain an effective learning environment.
  • Evaluate performance of Service School attendees using established processes, and provide appropriate feedback and recommendations to local management for follow-up to enhance service effectiveness and skill development.
  • Interact with Branch Managers / Independent Servicers, Service Advisors, Product Service, Product Engineering and other internal departments.
  • Provide preventative maintenance and technical training for end users (e.g. retail customer), as scheduled typically at customer site, and conduct training sessions in the field as required.
  • Provide input and assist in development and ongoing evaluation of designated training curricula and programs.
  • Prepare for service readiness for new product introduction and significant existing product changes as they relate to company training needs. Provide project progress reports.
  • Ensure all instruction and training operations demonstrate safe practices.
  • Utilize engaging instructional strategies and methodologies which foster student success both in and outside of the classroom.
  • Make safety & health issues/concerns a priority and adhere to established regulations and guidelines.  Participate as an active member of the Hobart Service Safety Committee.
    Responsibilities (20% Business-Specific Functions)
  • Perform other duties within Service Training or as a member of internal terms as assigned
  • Review and provide technical assistance in the development of technical service publications.
  • Assist in installation and servicing of equipment in headquarters locations as required. 
  • Build equipment simulators for use in training schools for product function

    Minimum Qualifications


    Education:
  • Accredited High School Graduate or GED.
  • Electrical or mechanical training and or experience.


    Experience:
  • 3 – 5 years servicing food equipment, warewash equipment or related products.
  • Proficient in Microsoft and Adobe programs such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint including but not limited to data extraction via advanced features in Excel, Presenter, and creating and converting Word documents into PDF format.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Strong platform skills required.

  • Writing, training facilitation and computer skills are required.
  • Demonstrates competency in the application of adult learning and training evaluation.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to view and analyze a situation from a very logical, systematic perspective and provide appropriate solutions.
  • Applied Learning - Ability to participate in needed learning activities in a way that makes the most of the learning experience.  Learn and use technology and alternative delivery methods, including, but not limited to, online instruction.

    Scope:
  • Training technicians on specified product line(s).
  • Interact with Branch Managers / Independent Servicers, Service Advisors, Product Service, Product Engineering and other internal departments.
  • Up to 20% travel including potential international destinations.


    Function:
  • Within assigned areas of responsibility, conduct and develop training programs in maintenance, service, troubleshooting, and operating procedures as designed for Hobart Service personnel and self-servicers, evaluate performance of training participants and provide appropriate feedback and recommendations to local management for follow-up to enhance service effectiveness and skills development.
    Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associates Degree in electronics/mechanical, training or other related fields.
  • 3-5 years Commercial Food Equipment experience.
  • 2 – 3 years’ courseware development experience in a technical environment – WBT “Web Based Training” / CBT “Computer Based Training” development experience.
  • Multimedia production and other technology-based training programs.
  • Technical training on Hobart, Vulcan and Baxter cooking and bakery products.
  • Formal training or education in project management.
  • Instructional design and delivery.
  • Multi-media production and other technology-based training.


    Physical Requirements / Working Conditions
    Position performed primarily in an office setting.
  • Lifting 50-75 lbs. with or without assistance.
  • Climbing up to 12 ft. with ladder.
  • Extensive walking 3-5 miles / day.
  • Kneeling, squatting, bending, pushing/pulling.
  • Exposure to noise, heat, cold, slippery, wet conditions.
  • Customer sites and conditions will vary based on industry and product.
