Job Description

Brooks Instrument, a global manufacturer of flow and pressure measurement and control products for critical applications, and a division of ITW (A Fortune 200 Company) is seeking candidates for a Supply Chain Intern (Summer 2020). This highly visible position will be based out of our headquarters location at Hatfield, PA (Suburban Philadelphia). Brooks maintains manufacturing, sales, and service center facilities around the world, and our products are used in laboratory and process applications in end markets such as: life sciences, petro-chemicals, semiconductor, analytical instrumentation, nuclear, and solar cells. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Maintain and update Inventory Records and Inventory Management procedures.
  • Closely monitor inventory levels of assigned commodities and products to minimize Months On Hand (MOH) of inventory and minimize exposure to slow and obsolete inventory.
  • Conduct, as necessary, any search to locate products within the system.
  • Perform cycle counts and makes system adjustments in the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System, as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records to help facilitate material shortage detection.
  • Develop all necessary reports and documentation to facilitate accurate inventory counts.
  • Lead assigned ITW Toolbox continuous improvement project (MRD, Kanban with visual inventory management from shop floor, in-lining and/or USa) to completion during the course of the internship.
  • Support other ITW Toolbox continuous improvement initiatives to ensure departmental goals and metrics are met.
  • Perform occasional supplier visit under supervision to coordinate sources of supply for assigned material commodities with a focus on total cost including quality, timely delivery and reliability.
  • Function within policies and guidelines set forth by the Brooks Instrument/ITW. Follows all Brooks attendance and safety procedures.
  • Successfully performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience 
  • Candidates are required to have completed at least two year of undergraduate academic study. 
  • Candidates with majors in Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or Accounting are preferred.
  • Understanding of component drawing specifications, including the ability to read drawings to determine dimensions, tolerances, and Incoming Quality Control (IQC) points is a plus.
  • Exposure to materials and/or inventory management as well as ERP systems are desirable. 
  • Competencies the candidate should possess include the following:
    • Self-motivated and energetic individual displaying a disciplined approach to problem solving.
    • Good written and verbal communications skills.
    • Work primarily independently with the ability to understand when to request assistance.
    • Strong attention to detail.
    • Ability and desire to work in a team environment.
    • Computer proficiency include MS Office fluency (Excel & Word). Prior experience with ERP Systems a plus.
