Job Description

The Supplier Quality Engineer will work closely with fellow plant personnel to ensure continuous improvement activities are implemented, internal/external quality issues are investigated, root cause is found, and corrective/preventive actions are identified; then implemented ensuring product quality.  This position is based in the Hebron, IL or Washington NC, plant with responsibility in the Elk Grove Village IL and Newcastle West Ireland plants as well. This position reports to the Regional Quality Manager.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Change Control Specs, Materials
  • Supplier Validations

  • Involved in Contract Negotiations.

  • Update existing inspection plans, test methods, with Quality Analyst.

  • Conduct sample size determination, statistical analysis, training, and root cause analysis with our suppliers to insure alignment.

  • Take lead in process failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA) with our suppliers.

  • Actively contribute to various manufacturing projects such as process development, cost reduction and quality improvement initiatives.

  • Take lead in collection, review, analysis, and trending of supplier quality indicators for monthly and quarterly reviews.

  • Manage and contribute to problem solving teams using standardized investigation processes/tools.

  • Assist with the preparation in technical reviews of products.

  • Lead cross-functional teams in continuous supplier quality improvement projects.

  • Conducts Supplier Audit process and assists in addressing observations.

  • Participate in Customer and Regulatory body audits.

  • Other tasks and duties as assigned

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering field (desired).
  • 5+ years related experience in Medical Devices Industry (preferred).
  • Ability to solve routine design and engineering tasks with some assistance.
  • Basic understanding of engineering and mathematics principles.
  • Understand interpretation of drawings, specifications, blueprints, and etc.
  • Change Control
  • Highly motivated, detail-oriented, eager to learn.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and teamwork skills are required.
