Job Description

Position Summary: 

The Strategic Sourcing Manger will develop and lead the Division’s purchasing strategy and collaborate extensively with other key stakeholders to achieve business objectives.   This position is responsible for executing sourcing strategies to deliver value to the business by monitoring critical supplier markets, identifying and reducing risk, improving quality, and reducing costs.   Beyond maximizing value, incumbent will manage key supplier relationships, lead cross-functional teams in the development and implementation of sourcing strategies, and ensure the business has an uninterrupted supply of products and materials.
 
Incumbent will be based at our Olathe, Kansas location and report to the Division Operations Director.
 
Core Responsibilities:

• Develop, articulate, and implement category strategies in alignment with key stakeholders and deliver on sourcing and financial goals of the Division.   Measure and manage key performance indicators to ensure effectiveness, usage, and awareness.

• Represent the Division with ITW Strategic Sourcing group and Platform/Segment sourcing leadership.

• Lead relationships with internal and external parties regarding spend data compilation and management processes.  Manage strategic sourcing tracker program.

• Develop and maintain positive relationships with the key suppliers to achieve best advantage in cost and applications. Conduct supplier visits as needed.

• Manage supplier qualification and performance assessments, contract compliance, mitigation strategies, and supply chain risks.  

• Lead negotiations of supplier agreements, renewals and amendments.  

• Communicate strategies, project status, and present reports to senior management.

• Analyze competitive landscape and market standards to identify and negotiate savings and contain costs.

• Harmonize and manage purchasing processes to improve efficiency and eliminate waste.

• Collaborate with Corporate Sourcing Group, Operations, Purchasing, R & D, New Product Development stakeholders to plan and control sourcing and supply chain needs.    Coordinate supplier innovations with R&D group.

• Collaborate with key Operations and Finance personnel in establishing and maintaining effective inventory control processes and procedures.

• Provide direction and directives to departmental team members in the performance of their duties, establishing work priorities and in achieving management objectives

• Must be able to foster, communicate and exemplify the values of ITW; act with integrity and trust, operate with simplicity, treat everyone with respect, take shared risk. 

• Travel required, approximately 25%.  Some international travel may be required.

Job Requirements

Position Skills and Experiences: 

• Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, chemistry or related technical field, MBA a plus.

• 7-10 years of demonstrated expertise in sourcing or strategic purchasing with all elements of a structured strategic sourcing process.

• Supervisory experience a plus.

• Supply Chain /Supply Management certification(s) a plus.

• Proven leadership and influence through active participation and facilitation of sourcing projects, contract negotiations, category strategy development, supplier reviews, executive briefings and other relevant meetings. • Proven capability establishing good relationships and contributing in a team environment.

• Strong leadership experience including proven success managing and developing others.

• Detailed oriented & thorough, with ability to think “big picture” and understand the key trends and levers that drive the business.

• Excellent business analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, communication and presentation skills with experience in communicating and working effectively with all levels of company personnel.

• Strong listening and analytical skills to interpret and translate information into sourcing needs.

• Strong Financial acumen and professional presence.

• Fluent in the use of Microsoft Office programs and Outlook, proficient with current technology. 

• SAP/ERP and desktop systems expertise.

• Able to travel as required.
