Job Description

The Accountant will provide timely information for the manufacturing operations to meet corporate requirements and guide effective business decisions that deliver profitable growth.   In this role, you will complete monthly journal entries and account reconciliations, analysis of actual and plan/outlook results, create and maintain monthly trackers/dashboards, inventory analysis, as well as special projects and ad-hoc requests. This position reports to the Financial Controller..

The Global Tool Unit (GTU) is a part of ITW’s Construction Segment. The GTU innovates, develops, and manufactures best-in-class Power Fastening Systems for the global construction market.  Our highly differentiated tools are specified to be used in a variety of applications including wood framing, wood trim, and steel to concrete installations.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Maintain adequate internal controls to ensure the accuracy of financials
  • Measure, monitor and analyze Inventory, Production, and Conversion Cost Trends
  • Complete month-end journal entries, reconcile balance sheet accounts, analyze variances, and complete bridge schedules and spending analyses
  • Work with cross-functional teams to develop/proactively improve KPIs
  • Coordinate more complex accounting projects and initiatives with other members of the accounting and finance team or with other departments
  • Provide financial support to the operations team, including cost trends, cost improvement opportunities, and profitability analysis of products, suppliers, programs and special projects
  • Assist in the annual standard cost roll up to comply with ITW Financial Policy and ensure integrity of the process and data
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance or related advanced degree required
  • CPA preferred
  • 0-3 years of accounting or audit experience
  • Manufacturing environment experience preferred 
  • Understanding of financial statements and working knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • Excellent analytical skills, including the ability to analyze raw data and apply creative/innovative analysis, and the capability to form key, succinct, and actionable insights and recommendations
  • Attention to detail with a focus on results
  • Collaborative and highly communicative, self-directed with high orientation to teamwork
  • Working knowledge of Navision or Epicor preferred
  • Microsoft Office software skills
  • Must be willing to travel up to 10%
