Division Description: Summary:   The Senior Human Resources Generalist (SHRG) has a pivotal role in the success of the organization, which includes partnering closely with plant management to drive culture transformation and support growth initiatives. This position will drive the implementation and administration of a wide range of Human Resources programs for a two-shift operation with 130+ employees.  Responsibilities includes, but are not limited to employee relations, compensation & benefits administration, talent acquisition, ensuring accuracy for the Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS), talent development, performance management, and compliance with all state and federal laws. This position reports directly to the HRM for the NASF Division.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
 
Employee Relations (50%)

  • The SHRG will help shape and build a culture of engagement by fostering diversity & inclusion in all practices within the business and during all touchpoints during the employee life cycle.
  • The SHRG will serve as a champion to educate and promote inclusiveness by promoting a culture of belonging in the workplace.
  • The incumbent will act as a consultative and trusted advisor to management by providing business results and delivering measurable and sustained value- added solutions.

Talent Development/Talent Management (20%)
  • The incumbent will serve as a coach for management to help develop and advise coaching strategies for employees to assist with talent development and talent management.
  • Creates, coordinates, and conducts effective training initiatives for the site that are aligned with business initiatives.
  • Work with leadership to create a bench strength of talent in anticipation for future roles.
  • role in the development of the Affirmative Action Plan within business units.  Ensures compliance with required legal postings on bulletin boards.
  • Organizes and conducts new employee orientation; creates a positive first experience of the company and serves as a role model for ITW values. Works with the management team to ensure employees receive adequate onboarding to the company and position.
  • Inputs and ensures accuracy of all employee data in the HRIS system such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, terminations, and employee statistics for reporting.  Prepares regular or special reports using HRIS.
  • Prepares employee communication documents including new hire, disability, benefit, separation notices and related documentation. Assists in the dissemination and collection of data and forms.
  • Responds to inquiries regarding benefit programs and educates and supports employees in the use of the self-service applications available to them.
  • Reviews existing human resources policies and procedures within the business units for which they are responsible, and initiates changes as necessary to ensure compliance with law, corporate policies, and business objectives.
  • Conducts and analyzes wage survey data to ensure we maintain competitive market wages. Maintains position descriptions for all positions within the business.
  • Has a high degree of Emotional Intelligence (EQ) and can diffuse and resolve situations using conflict resolution techniques and tools.
Talent Acquisition/Recruitment (20%)
  • The SHRG will lead the talent acquisition process from start to finish. This includes; sourcing for open jobs using a best identified and diverse channel strategy.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with managers and other team members to create a partnership that yields success, credibility, and successful hiring practices.
  • Create an excellent candidate experience by demonstrating ITWs culture and values for applicants during the sourcing and interviewing process.
  • Build a multi-source and proactive recruitment process that involves leveraging a strong employee referral program.
Safety Initiatives/Safety Culture (10%)
The SHRG will support management by educating employees on behavioral based safety initiatives at the site. These initiatives should educate and transform behaviors to focus on proactive approaches such as the Near Miss Program which should reduce and eliminate loss time accidents (LTA) and medically treated incidents (MTI).
    
   

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in Human Resources including knowledge of recruitment processes, benefit and compensation administration and practices, employee relations, and legal compliance requirements.
  • 3+ years of working with HRIS/ATS platforms is required
  • PHR, SHRM-CP or equivalent is highly preferred
