Job Summary 

The position will report to the Global Operations Director and will be based out of our Hendersonville, TN location. This role is responsible for driving strategic sourcing efforts in a complex supply chain with hundreds of suppliers and thousands of products spanning across multiple continents. To remain competitive in the global market, the Sourcing Manager will be accountable for delivering material cost savings through aggressive supplier management as well as regional and global sourcing efforts. Additionally, this position will be driving continuous improvement activities with many cross functional teams across the business to improve quality and delivery as well as drive down cost.

Primary Responsibilities

Drive a culture of Safety, Wellness and ITW’s Core Values, ensuring proactive practices.

  • Analyzes purchasing data regularly to properly determine cost structures, competitive pricing, opportunities for alternative sourcing, and proper safety stock levels.
  • Manages slow and obsolete inventory levels by establishing processes and protocals for global teams to follow. Key player in overall inventory management and counting process.
  • Lead continuous improvement activities across all functions to drive simplicity in the business and enhance the customers‘ experience.
  • Works closely with Engineering and product development in support of New Product launches. Determine appropriate supply base that falls within cost targets and is able to deliver the product on time with high level of quality.
  • Understands and simplifies category management and purchasing process to improve procurement and supply chain efficiency
  • Develops a business purchasing strategy, according to strategic goals and ensures that suppliers are aware of crucial business objectives
  • Selects suppliers who are aligned with business standards to ascertain the best products in terms of best value, delivery schedules and quality;
  • Understand supply base capability and ensure proper suppliers are in place to deliver products that meet expectations.
  • Develops long range strategic sourcing plans that align with business direction and strategy
  • Understands category buying & management process to identify improvements opportunities
  • Manages risk mitigation (cost, price and/or supply),
  • Leverage organization`s spend by utitilizing corporate sourcing teams to drive down cost where possible
  • Analyzes quotes and negotiates prices & delivery conditions with suppliers.
  • Negotiates and agrees contracts and monitors their progress, checking the quality of service provided; contracts should be standardized in conditions for the whole region
  • Coordinates and supports all sourcing related activities and commitments including the review, negotiation, and acquisition of the targeted spend categories.
  • Forecasts price trends and their impact on future activities;
  • Share best practices across the organization

Minimum Requirement
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in material sourcing, procurement, supply chain, engineering or operations

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
  • Advanced Excel skills and ability to demonstrate (Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, sorting, arithmetic formulae)
  • Must be familiar with an updated ERP system (SAP, JDE, IFS, Microsoft Dynamics or similar)
  • Proven track record or display or analytical and communication skills
  • Able to effectively drive cross-group collaboration and cooperation, using strong communication, project management, and organizational skills
  • Expertise in Kanban inventory management
  • Proven communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills across all organizational levels
  • Demonstrated understanding of basic business financials
  • Ability to display innovative thinking, outside-the-box problem solving techniques is a plus
  • Knowledge Lean concepts or projects based on the 80/20 principle is a plus
  • Domestic travel to suppliers (10%-20%) and occasional international travel if necessary
