Job Description

As a key member of the engineering team, the Site Project Manager reports to the Senior Manager, Project Management and is responsible for supervising the installation of production lines for our key customers. This position is also responsible for leading, planning and managing the contractors during the entire installation phase of the project.

It is desired to have this position based out of our headquarters in our Greenville, South Carolina location.  A remote, mutually agreeable location is possible depending on the candidate.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Project Manager(s) to understand and implement our execution strategy and ensure the project installation is completed within budget and on-schedule.
  • Ensure that the vision and strategic plan for the project is followed to exceed the customers’ expectations.
  • Assist the Project Management team to deliver best-in-class commercial products and services in line with key market requirements, while following the department procedures and practices to improve deliverable lead times, quality and project close rates.
  • Manage and provide technical direction of on-site contractors and equipment suppliers while ensuring all safety regulations and standards are met.
  • Maintain and update construction schedules and coordinate tie-ins and shut-downs, including coordination of site delivery timing with vendors, truck unloading and equipment rigging with the customer.
  • Conduct daily construction coordination meetings with contractors and customer and  provide written weekly site reports to the project team at ITW Hartness.
  • Monitor equipment installations for adherence to specifications.
  • Demonstrate strong change management and alert team of any possible field change orders that require project manager approval; including notification of any revisions required to the mechanical layout drawings and electrical schematics.
  • Work with customer’s support team, contractors and OEM’s to maintain project schedule.
  • Assist the Project manager in maintaining a punch list during the installation phase of a project.
  • Execute final walk thru with contractors to sign-off on installation completion.
  • Establish and develop key customer relationships to further drive our partnership / success.
  • Provide assistance and insight to the Project Manager in the development of the installation schedules.
  • Review new integration projects and assist the Project Manager in preparing bid packages for our contractors.
  • Collaborate with the Project team to develop installation specifications, gather OEM technical data, obtain contractor bids and complete summaries of all major utilities.
  • Participate cross-functionally in 80/20, USa, MRD, In-Lining and continuous improvement initiatives which achieve results consistent with company goals.
  • Other duties as-assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associates degree or experience in lieu of degree
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in assembly and installation of automated packaging lines, including the troubleshooting and repair of mechanical and electrical installation issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce results within a team environment, gain alignment and develop productive working relationships at all levels of the organization and with customers.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting mechanical layouts, electrical schematics and pneumatic diagrams.
  • Able to define a problem, gather data to draw conclusions and develop appropriate plans to address.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently and in a professional manner at customer facilities.
  • Ability to maintain composure during rapidly changing and stressful phases of a project.
  • Excellent time management, prioritization and project management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to travel 60% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Secondary packaging machine and line installation experience with emphasis on the core markets that we serve which are food, beverage and personal and household care
  • Experience with FANUC Robotics or other industrial robots
  • Understanding and exposure to PLC programming
  • Basic use of Auto-CAD
