Job Description

Summary:

Shipping Supervisor will direct all the shipping functions and distributions of goods and services, whether performing the duties personally or delegating responsibilities to other shipping personnel. The role also includes working closely with customers and the manufacturing department to assure shipments are accurate and on time.

Primary Responsibilities:

•         Supervision of the shipping, receiving, and warehouse operations.

•         Confers with customers and representatives of associated industries to evaluate and promote improved processes and or product

•         Supports documentation and implementations of policies and procedures

•         Establishes operations procedures for such activities such as verification of inbound and outbound shipments, handling and disposition of materials and keeping warehouse inventory current

•         Inspects physical condition of warehouse and equipment

•         Ensures work orders for repairs and requisitions for replacement of equipment are processed

•         Safety Committee participant and creates safety awareness in the work environment

•         Demonstrates hands-on leadership and coaching abilities – able to demonstrate examples of empowering, developing & motivating people

•         Familiar with all aspects of the shipping operation for Tier 1 automotive suppliers

•         Maintains shipping databases and has knowledge of Trans4M shipping module and UPS software

•         Processes inbound and outbound UPS, FEDEX, and other delivery services

•         Schedules deliveries and pickups with freight carriers

•         Creates and transmits Advance Shipping Notices (ASNs)

•         Arranges air freight and expedites delivers

•         Controls business unit’s freight costs

•         Maintains the Approved Carrier Source List in IATF compliance

•         Purchase order entry and maintenance including the verification of purchase order requisitions as defined by IATF compliance

•         Maintain warehouse trucks and equipment, selects service that is cost effective

•         Any other tasks as assigned

Job Requirements

Experience:

•         5+ years ‘experience as Shipping Supervisor in fast-paced logistics/shipping/manufacturing environment required, Bachelor’s Degree a plus

•         Excellent organization and interpersonal skills

•         Excellent oral and written communication skills

•         Intermediate computer skills in MS Office, Excel, and Outlook

•         Experienced in operating a forklift and pallet jack required

•         Experienced using scanning equipment and shrink wrappers required

•         Must have experience with MRP systems Trans4M. a plus

•         Must be able to fluctuate hours based on customer mandated window times

•         Automotive experience is highly desired

•         Effective problem resolution skills combined with “big picture” awareness

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Computer/telephone use moderate.
