Job Title: Shipping/Receiving Supervisor


Reports to: Logistics Manager



Role Summary: The Shipping/Receiving Supervisor will report to the Logistics Manager and will be responsible to oversee all activities as they relate to departmental objectives including delivery performance, customer relations and related administrative practices.



Key Accountabilities:


●  Supervise a team of employees, including temporary and contract employees.


●  Assist with daily shipping activities such as order processing, receiving.


●  Use software to track, check, prioritize and route orders.


●  Have an in depth understanding of each function within the shipping/receiving department.


●  Managing all important documents such as advanced shipping notice (ASN), pick slips, bills of lading etc.


●  Attend daily meetings relating to shipping caused concerns/8D completion as applicable.


●  Direct the flow of packages from preparation to shipment


●  Inspect labels, barcodes and other features of completed orders


●  Establish or update work instructions and procedures as necessary.


●  Initial contact for resolution of day to day problems.


●  Continuously improve shipping/receiving operations.


●  Maintenance of accurate inventory and audits.


●  Maintain and promote a safe working environment.


●  Conduct employee performance evaluations.


●  Address employee performance/counseling issues as they arise.


●  Scheduling personnel to duties.


●  Control budget of the shipping department


●  Collaborate with warehouse, purchasing and manufacturing managers to optimize processes


●  Resolve issues regarding shipped orders


●  Other tasks and duties as assigned

●  All Internal Departments


●  Externally with vendors and drivers.

●  Proven inventory control knowledge.


●  Basic understanding of auditing functions.


●  Ability to work effectively in on-demand situations.


●  Ability to recognize need for change and implementation in a timely manner.


●  Must be “hands-on” supervisor.


●  Demonstrated leadership skills.


●  Proven experience as shipping supervisor/manager


●  Solid knowledge of logistics procedures


●  Experience in using EDI and preparing shipping documents (ASN)


●  Computer skills and excellent knowledge of MS Office


●  Good understanding of budgeting and reporting


●  Experience in directing and evaluating subordinates


●  Excellent organizational and communication skills


●  Attention to detail



Education & Experience:


●  2 year associates degree or university management program certificate; 4 years related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.


●  1-3 years’ prior supervisory experience in manufacturing or shipping preferred.



Physical Requirements:


●  Must be able to retrieve cartons of product weighing up to 50 pounds from racks as high as 25 feet using high lift truck.


●  Must be able to operate high lift powered factory truck.
