The Shipping and Receiving Coordinator confirms and records the receipt of shipments, prepares items for shipping and loads/unloads trucks in a timely manner, paying close attention to detail. This position reports to the Production Supervisor.

Essential Functions

1.  Oversee incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness and condition of shipments.

2.  Determine space requirements and position of shipment in trucks and lay out position of shipment.

3.  Put away received material in the designated areas – elbows, mastics, coils, poly, etc.

4.  Verify outgoing orders for accuracy – checking shipping address and confirming correct product is pulled for the order that is shipping to customer.

5.  Call various delivery companies to arrange pick up of goods and properly complete bill of lading for trucking companies.

6.  Examine work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.

7.  Issue and adhere to written and oral instructions.

8.  Communication with Production and Front office on shipping issues – attend daily Production meetings.

9.  Responsible for checking with Production on shipping orders, when they will be ready.

10.  Follow safety rules, keep shipping area clean and orderly.

11.  Study and standardize procedures to improve shipping and receiving efficiencies.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Job Requirements

1.  High School diploma required. Associates degree would be preferred. 

2.  Three to five years of related experience and/or training in the field is considered a strong asset.

3.  Previous forklift experience.
