Service Technician - Elk Grove IL
                                                                       
General Purpose of the Job:
Perform field service and in shop repairs on Hobart equipment

Job Specifications:

Education:
High School or equivalent training.

Experience:
2-4 years

Complexity of Duties:
Requires knowledge of service and repair techniques involving diagnosing and correcting malfunctions of Hobart equipment. Diversified duties requiring the use of a wide range of procedures and the exercise of judgment in the analysis of facts or circumstances to determine what action should be taken within the limits of standard practice.

Supervision Received:
Under broad direction of Service Supervisor or Branch Manager

Contact with Others:
Routine contact with branch employees. Regular contact with customers and other outside personnel, requiring more than ordinary courtesy and tact to establish and maintain good customer relations. Must be able to perform effectively on the job despite various pressures exerted by outside influences

General Duties:
  • Adjusting, aligning, assembling, calibrating, inspecting, lubrication, and testing of Hobart equipment
  • Problem diagnosis including electrical/mechanical and electronics troubleshooting. Must be able to be innovative and use common sense to remedy a situation so the customer may resume operations
  • Maintain frequent contact with the office to receive service assignments and review service problems with advisor, supervisor, or manager
  • Consistently achieve or surpass weekly productivity and service labor revenue goals assigned by management
  • Maintain working knowledge of latest modifications, retrofit, etc. for equipment m assigned to service
  • Assist others on equipment installations or in performing major repair assignments
  • Maintain a working knowledge of parts stocking and identification methods, practices and procedures and achieve or exceed monthly parts sales goals
  • Responsible for inventory and a professional appearance of service vehicle
  • Satisfactorily complete factory schools and audio/visual field training as required
  • Work overtime, often with short notice, as required, including on call
  • Assist in obtaining long life maintenance contracts/ASW contracts and achieve or exceed monthly sales goals
  • Assist in developing sales leads
  • Assist, as necessary, with product demonstrations at customer locations and at trade shows
  • Comply with all service policies and procedures of Hobart Corp. and the local branch
  • Maintain personal image to meet or exceed company standards
