About this Position
As a key member of the Residential Technical Team, the Senior Technical Specialist is responsible for
providing technical and product expertise to enable each of the Residential Construction segments to win in their respective product categories. 

The Technical Specialist will be the central point of expertise in product technical application and specification and proactively engage with product managers, manufacturing, end users and suppliers.

Some of the Key Responsibilities will Include:

  • Liaise with product and end user teams to understand product and application requirement modification
  • Based on application requirements, deliver specification drawings on time using specialist drawing software
  • Establish a new, centralised Residential Division specification system
  • Train all users and maintain oversite across the Divisional specification system, ensuring compliance across all segments
  • Create a testing plan based on an understanding of individual product value propositions
  • Identify suitable external testing labs to support ongoing business needs
  • Test competitor products as needed by the segment product manager and prepare briefing reports to the product manager and business manager
  • Undertake quality investigations of under-performing products as required
  • Prepare reports on time with recommendations on resolution of end user issue and of any changes required through local or outsourced manufacturers
  • Provide business segments with expert knowledge of product specification and application via technical bulletins, training programs and direct end user engagement.

Job Requirements

Qualifications & experience:

  • Technical qualification highly desirable eg. Diploma or Bachelors degree in Engineering
  • Hands on experience in design and drawing systems using software such as Inventor or Solidworks
  • Past experience in construction industry or similar preferred.
  • Proven decision-maker. Identifying and understanding issues, problems, and opportunities; comparing data from different sources to draw conclusions; using effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions; taking action that is consistent with available facts, constraints, and likely consequences.
