Summary
Under direction of engineering management and in collaboration with fellow engineers, the Senior Mechanical Engineer will perform relatively complex work requiring independent selection and application of appropriate Engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria for accomplishment of designs, design adaptions, and modifications having specific, clearly defined objectives. The level of engineering work performed may have precedents and requires application of standard engineering techniques and knowledge. Additional responsibilities below:
 
  • Will assume ownership of and responsibility for engineering and product development projects throughout the entire project lifecycle
  • Coordinating project activities, customer (internal and external) interactions, design, manufacturing and testing of custom products
  • Collaboration with associate engineers, designers, drafters, technicians and others who are assigned similar tasks and/or projects.
  • Will assume the role of technical lead by providing sound engineering input on design, material selection, finishes, manufacturing processes and their limitations
  • May be called upon to work directly with customers, management, fellow engineers and members of the Sales, Manufacturing and Service organizations
     
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical knowledge acquired by at least 8-10 years of industrial experience in the engineering discipline in which the individual is primarily involved.
  • Good judgment coupled with an ability to select and apply appropriate resources necessary to reach sound engineering conclusions and completion of task and objectives within the agreed-upon schedule.
  • Solidworks proficiency is required.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Previous knowledge of Instron testing systems and products is desirable
  • Previous experience is the design of standard or application specific products or solution is desirable
