Job Description


The Senior IT Network Administrator’srole is to ensure the stable operation of the in-house computer network. Workwith IT Manager to plan, develop, install, configure, maintain, support, and optimizeall network hardware, software, and communication links. The person will alsoanalyze and resolve end user hardware and software computer problems in atimely and accurate fashion, and provide end user training where required. 


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage servers, including applications, e-mail, print, and backup servers and their associated operating systems and software

  • Manage all network hardware and equipment, including routers, switches, hubs, and UPSs

  • Manage security solutions, including firewall, anti-virus, and intrusion detection systems

  • Oversee installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of end user workstation hardware, software, and peripheral devices

  • Develop, implement and execute standard procedures for the administration, backup, disaster recovery, and preventative maintenance of company servers and workstations

  • Capacity planning, change management, version/patch management and lifecycle upgrade management.  Ability to recommend and plan layouts for types of servers, peripheral equipment, modifications to existing equipment and capability

  • Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory, licensing, support and related documentation and technical specifications information

  • Administer and maintain end user accounts, permissions, and access rights

  • Maintain an infrastructure roadmap that meets operational goals as well as customer requirements.

  • Perform root cause analysis and make recommendations for corrections and improvements.

  • Mentor and/or provide guidance to members of the team

  • Able to be flexible with work schedules as deemed necessary by projects and area of responsibilities

  • Ability to follow established procedures and suggest improvements for effectiveness and efficiency

  • Create and maintain work instructions for IT function and end users

  • Provide backup support for PC’s and ERP, GL and phone systems

  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or Computer Science required

  • 7+ years’ experience (manufacturing environment and automotive industry preferred)

  • Proven experience with systems planning, security principles, and general software/hardware management best practices.

  • Extensive experience with Windows Server, Power Shell, Active Directory, Cloud Technologies (Azure, AWS, etc.) Red Hat, VMWare, VEEAM, SNMP, Cisco

  • Advance knowledge of ERP and EDI systems a plus (i.e., Trans4M, AutoEx, Supply Web)

  • Microsoft Certifications or other certifications a plus (i.e., Network+,  Security+,  MCSE, VMWare)

  • Demonstrates strong analytical and critical decision-making skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required.  Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of personnel (internal and external) 

  • Technical writing skills and experience documenting procedures in a clear and concise manner.

Physical Demands:

  • Work normally requires a low level of physical effort in bending, lifting, and manual dexterity
  • Computer/telephone use is moderate. 

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.

  • Required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms;
