As a Senior Corporate Trade Compliance Specialist/Analyst supporting the trade compliance programs of ITW businesses, typical duties associated with this position might include the following:

  • Manage various trade projects in line with ITW’s flexible culture to implement the trade compliance strategy
  • Provide guidance, training and tools to business personnel with trade questions and issues
  • Review US import/export data and aspects of transactions to identify trends, risks and opportunities. Work with businesses and service providers strengthen compliant activities.
  • Contribute to the creation and provision of training, resources and tools adjusting the approach to meet the needs of the business
  • Ensure required bonds, Power of Attorney’s and other registrations are in place to facilitate trade
  • Manage the preferred customs broker program identifying benefits to businesses and providers

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree with focus on Business, Finance or International Trade
  • 5-10 years trade compliance experience in-house, as a freight forwarder/customs broker, trade consultant or a combination thereof
  • Customhouse Broker License (CHB)
  • Preferred to have Certified Customs Specialist (CCS)/Certified Export Specialist (CES) or Project Management Professional (PMP) certofication yet not required
  • Demonstrated experience managing inquiries, performing research, providing guidance and working with a variety of businesses and personnel at all levels to creatively address and solve international sales and purchase compliance issues based on the needs of the business.
  • Interpreting import/export laws, rulings, regulations and translating them into reasonable business practices
  • Preparing and filing required pre-import/export and any necessary post entry/shipment forms and submissions to US Customs, US Census, Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) and other government agencies. Demonstrated knowledge of Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classification and Free Trade Agreement (FTA) qualification.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of available Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) data objects and reports and experience creating reports and acting as an ACE subject matter expert and Trade Account Owner continuously learning how to use the information to best support the business’ trade compliance program and ITW’s risk assessment efforts.
  • Mining, manipulating and analyzing import/export data in Excel, Power BI and/or Access
  • Distilling import/export data for reporting to communicate trading statistics, issues, trends
  • Creating and presenting training and supporting materials
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project, etc.)
  • Ability to travel 10-20%
