The Senior Compensation Specialist supports the ITW corporate compensation function by administering the broad-based compensation programs, analyzing data and compensation trends and providing compensation guidance to HR generalists.

  • Responds to queries from HR generalists regarding compensation policy interpretation, market data, job banding (ITW grading) and other compensation projects (e.g. sales incentive design).
  • Supports the annual compensation planning process (merit, incentive & stock grants) using Workday, providing advice & analysis as necessary and working with HR Technology team to resolve helpdesk tickets.
  • Reviews and manages the ITW job catalog that underpins the grading system.
  • Coordinates ITW’s global survey submissions and prepares and submits all US annual salary surveys.
  • Analyzes global survey results to prepare salary range and merit recommendations, by country.
  • Prepares compensation related training materials and documentation such as manager reference guides for compensation planning.
  • Keeps content on the ITW HR Portal updated as necessary and updates tools posted for HR generalist use.
  • Supports with configuration updates and changes to compensation setup in Workday.
  • Will also lead some other broad-based compensation projects and support the businesses with local compensation initiatives such as non-exempt compensation.


  • Requires a bachelor's degree
  • 2-4 years of experience in all areas of compensation within a corporate environment.
  • Strong analytical skills set with an understanding of financial concepts.
  • Good project management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with customer service approach.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem solving and troubleshooting skills required.
  • Intermediate/advanced Excel.
