Senior Buyer

Summary
 
This successful Senior Buyer will be responsible for purchasing and sourcing functions of a variety of components for production and R&D for Instron N.A.   Primary parts will be related to fabricated metal (machined) parts, electronic components (PCBAs, Power AMPs, Motors etc.). Parts are of complex nature, low volume and at the highest quality levels, and primarily purchased domestically. Vast growth potential in a global scale is available for the candidate with a passion for growth.
 
Requirements
 
  • Mechanical parts sourcing background (preferred) or electronics sourcing background necessary
  • Strong analytical skills with advanced Excel features required
  • Experience of strategic sourcing / purchasing vs tactical purchasing required
  • Manage day to day supplier activities (MRBs, Purchase orders, incorrect Invoices, Expediting when necessary)
  • Strategically source alternate suppliers for low performing or ineffective suppliers
  • Perform Quartile Business Reviews of the key suppliers in conjunction with quality department including site visits (mostly domestic)
  • Prior experience of inventory management and understanding of slow moving / obsolete inventory
  • Knowledge of Kanban planning replenishment system would be an added plus
  • Prior evidence of Strong problem solving skills or project management skills on complex projects is beneficial
 
Skills Required
 
  • Bachelor’s degree and equivalent work experience (8+)
  • Advanced Excel skills and ability to demonstrate (Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, sorting, arithmetic formulae)
  • Must be familiar with an updated ERP system (SAP, JDE, IFS, Microsoft Dynamics or similar)
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams and departments
  • Expertise in electronics or metals commodity is a must and Kanban inventory knowledge is a plus
  • Ability to display innovative thinking, outside-the-box problem solving techniques is a plus
  • Knowledge of the ITW Tool-box or projects based on the 80/20 principle is a plus
  • Domestic travel to suppliers and other Instron sites (20%-30%) - mainly Northeast, some Midwest.
