Job Description

The successful candiate will have responsibility for delivering sales of Instron’s products to direct markets in the UK and in Denmark. This will be achieved through nurturing existing accounts and finding and developing new accounts within these territories. In addition the Sales Engineer will work closely with Account Representatives to ensure we meet customer expectations in customer support and order fulfilment.

  • Ensure proposals, products & services are delivered to high standards of customer acceptance, timeliness & accuracy.

  • Own and manage the sales funnel to ensure monthly forecast and plan are met

  • Understand market verticals and applications to ensure that our products are promoted effectively to customers.

  • Be knowledgeable about the customer & why we are the best solution for them.

  • Act as the voice of the customer within the business.

  • Creation and implementation of territory plans and sales initiatives to deliver sustainable growth.


    Working Conditions

    This is a remote sales role and regular customer visits will be required. It is expected that you will in front of customers an average of sixty percent of the working week Home office or factory environment with limited physical discomfort due to temperature, noise, dust and the like. Manual lifting will be required when on customer sites. To fulfil the principle duties and responsibilities it will be necessary to travel within the Instron market area and work beyond the stated minimum hours may be required as the needs of the business dictate.

    Physical Requirements

    Some manual lifting required as well as the ability to travel for periods up to 1 week  on a limited basis.

    • Previous experience of B2B capital equipment sales

    • Ability to quickly learn and develop a full knowledge of a large, technically complex, product range.

    • Ability to communicate technical information to different audiences (i.e. highly technical to non-technical).

    • Ability to influence internal and external resources to ensure completion of assigned tasks.

    • Able to work with and sell into non-Anglo-Saxon cultures.

    • Organisational Skills: Can co-ordinate & juggle many projects simultaneously.

    • Analysis: Can quickly evaluate technical issues and even with limited knowledge evaluate alternative solutions.

    Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering  with appropriate experience in either a Technical or Sales environment, alternatively, relevant experience working with Instron testing equipment.

    Strong PC skills in Microsoft applications.

    Key Experiences

    Will be considered a plus any experience in working with materials testing equipment and preferably in the Automotive or Aerospace Industry or in selling scientific instrumentation into Automotive or Aerospace market sectors. Can demonstrate record of growing sales over a three year period as a remote sales engineer.

    Key KPIs/other performance measurements

    • Funnel Management: Heath and speed of funnel stages to order closure

    • Forecasting

    • New accounts won

    • Sales activity. Demonstrations and Visits

    • Respond to sales enquiries from customers in a quick and timely manner.  Normally within the same day.

    • Product and software demonstration – provide customers with energetic and proficient product demonstrations.

    • Applications testing – provide application testing in support of specific sales cases in a timely manner.
