Job Description



SUMMARY:

ITW Performance Polymers can be considered an engineering company that uses polymer technology (thermosetting and generally epoxy / silicone) to accomplish its goals. The main responsibility would be evaluating alternate raw materials to support the companies strategic sourcing initiatives.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Research possible raw material substitutions or consolidations beginning with internet searches and comparisons on paper (TDS, SDS, CofA’s) of raw material characteristics.

  • Reaching out to vendors and distributors for input as needed.

  • Mixing small lab batches and preparing samples for testing.

  • Mechanical testing of final products key performance indicators including: viscosity, density, cure time, exotherm, compressive / tensile strength, adhesion, electrical properties, etc.

  • Preparation of lab reports with relevant data for review by the technical team.

  • Ability to work in a neat and organized manner.



 

Job Requirements



SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

Pursuing a Degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Mechanical Science or other applicable Chemical or Engineering Discipline.



PREFERED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

Familiarity with thermoset polymer chemistry concepts or similar scientific discipline is preferred.
