Job Description


  • The Reliability Test Technician will work with ITW Welding Segment technical teams in testing products to ensure compliance with reliability, certification, and EMC requirements. Additional responsibilities include scheduling all in-house and outsourced testing, generating and maintaining test reports within the product technical files, drafting and maintaining test procedures and forms, building test fixtures, procuring test related items, calibration of and general maintenance of test equipment.


  • PLC Programming of lab testing equipment.
  • Planning and executing projects within the scope of reliability and certification testing.
  • Communicating project or program status, work activities, and potential problems to supervisors, project members, and others as appropriate.
  • Reviewing all compliance tests and developing new test methods and best practices in a decentralized structure.
  • Understanding the operation and maintenance of test equipment and data acquisition systems.
  • Leveraging information technologies as a tool to improve testing, data collection and analysis, and communication capabilities.
  • Developing and implementing a data collection plan to provide better assessment of product lifetime testing.
  • Witnessing CSA certification tests.
  • Limited travel may be required.

Job Requirements

  • Two year technical degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronics, Electro-mechanical or related field required.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in engineering product development or support.
  • Experience, familiarity, and lab skills using test equipment to meet internal and external standards (Reliability, IEC, CSA, UL, etc.)
  • Ability to test, debug, and characterize hardware and software failures.
  • Good computer skills and proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Good technical report writing skills.
  • Analytical, organized, and detail oriented - with the ability to concurrently manage several projects and tasks.
  • Effective Communicator - able to understand and interpret technical information pertaining to standards and communicate this information to business units and provide logical rationalization.
  • Self-motivated and be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively in a team environment
  • Knowledge of embedded code, LabVIEW programming, and information technology systems a plus.
  • Ability to manage and direct people.
