OVERALL PURPOSE:


Recommends, leads, and implements projects such as; operational process control, quality improvement, scrap reduction, new product development controls / process development and 80/20 initiatives such as PLS and in-lining.  Manage the Quality and ISO system by maintaining plant conformance and implementing efficiency / process improvements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  1. Under direction of the Facility Operations Manager champion projects to improve plant profitability through scrap reduction, process efficiency, quality improvement and optimization of new products to execute successful commercialization.

  2. Supervises quality employees. Plans and delegates duties and assignments, administers performance reviews, discipline, training, and ensures policies and practices are followed.

  3. Continually learns and stays up to date on internal process capability and researches new technologies applicable to improving processes.

  4. Collect, correlate and analyze data evaluating experiments, production trends and linking product quality and claims. 

  5. Conduct baseline studies to provide data recommending improvements on customer’s product failures and leading to reduced concessions. Travel to customer sites to gather data, support sales, troubleshoot process problems.

  6. Identify controls or improvements to products and processes to maximize operational performance and customer satisfaction based on product quality and consistency.

  7. Work with plant personnel on improving/reducing operations issues affecting manufacturing/finishing (commercial and new products), and warehousing. Coordinate meetings, action plans, set milestones to achieve improvements.

  8. Lead process development/optimization teams for key new products.

  9. Identify key outside resources (e.g. vendors, raw material suppliers, consultants) who can support evaluation and/or implementation of optimized processes.

  10. Develop systems for testing of all incoming materials used in our process and maintain testing data information and logs.

  11. Lead ISO program and maintain related files. Coordinate ISO compliance for the site.

  12. Lead and maintain quality management system.  Drive continuous improvement of quality systems to ensure ISO compliance and improve efficiency.

  13. Manage customer complaint system and ensure corrective actions are completed timely.

  14. Lead root cause/corrective action investigation team to determine causes and corrections for quality issues with the goal to not have reoccurrences.  

  15. Use trend analysis of complaints and quality issues to recommend future engineering / R&D projects to drive company profitability.

  16. Work in a safe manner, following all OSHA and company procedures.

  17. The position is hands on working management leadership role.

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS/BASIC JOB REQUIREMENTS:

BS in Engineering, Operations, Chemistry or related degree.  Preferred advanced degree.  Minimum 5-7 years experience in a similar role in a manufacturing environment using tools such as 80/20, Six Sigma, Kaizen, etc. to improve quality and productivity.  Very strong analytical ability and logical problem solving skills. Demonstrated project success in scrap reduction, automated process equipment up-time improvements, lead time reductions, etc.  Excellent communication, and analytical skills, MS Office, Powerpoint, Excel, etc.
