Position Description:
This position will be responsible for providing overall leadership and ensuring continuous quality improvements within the SAP division. This position will be responsible for developing and implementing the organization's quality strategy and maintaining world-class levels of product quality. The QC Manager will define the appropriate and adequate procedures and measures of control for processes to satisfy client’s expectation by meeting the quality standards. The QC Manager position will responsible for performing all functions related to personnel management of department employees in accordance with company policies as well as the planning, directing, and leading the Division’s quality process, and ensuring the Quality System is effectively implemented and managed throughout the Division.
Primary responsibilities include:
  • Serves as liaison between Customer (Automotive OEMs and Tiers) and the organization.
  • Formulates and maintains quality control objectives and coordinates objectives with production procedures in cooperation with Plant Manager to maximize product reliability and minimize costs.
  • Champions continuous improvement efforts and defect reduction initiatives to establish and enforce an effective Quality Management System (QMS) and is the subject matter expert in the area of quality processes.
  • Develop courses of action, with Plant Managers & Quality Engineers, for alleviating and resolving problems (champion of correction actions, 8D resolution, APQP champion).
  • Involves commercial team as appropriate for quality related issues.
  • Develop and lead excellence in use of quality tool application (e.g. 8D, 5xwhy, FMEA or Ishikawa).
  • Champions the ITW Leadership Development framework, developing talent within the business and identifying and developing key leaders for future roles.
  • Supports supplier quality management including evaluation of supplier quality data to identify process improvements and opportunities.
  • Establishes and implements various training programs in order to drive cultural change and to assure high levels of expertise, support and compliance in areas related to quality system functions.
  • Actively participates in meetings and negotiations with customer on programs and related quality issues.
  • Reviews and updates manuals, procedures, work instructions, forms and entire plant quality system for compliance to current automotive standards and related agencies (i.e. AIAG, IATF, etc.).
  • Develops and administers audit plan to verify plant adherence to quality management system.
  • Assures supplier quality by enforcing quality assurance standards, policies and industry/government requirements
  • Champion of internal audit program and adherence to IATF 16949.  Follows and stays current with IATF 16949 procedures, policies, manuals and subscriptions.  Aligns employees with quality behavior and quality standards (IATF, ISO, CQI, OHSAS, MMOG, and other related systems.
  • Participates in surveillance of subcontractors’ manufacturing processes and control subcontractor performance system.
  • Prepares product and process quality reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends to support Quality related KPIs.  Provides cost of quality.
  • Works directly with Project Managers, Purchasing, Engineering, Plant Managers and Production Managers/Supervisors to ensure that all quality standards are being met.
  • Interfaces with plant managers, customers and subcontractors as required in such areas as: APQP, Part Number Control Plans, PPAP, KPI’s, and Continuous Improvement.
  • Champions quality knowledge in production and the quality department.
  • Maintain and support work safety and environmental rules.
  • Drives the team to implement a monthly QOS culture and system.
  • Coordinates a proactive approach to eliminating / reducing waste costs.
  • Implements on-line SPC system.
  • Revises existing approach to controls on our product reliability.
  • Represents the function within the local community and promotes the company’s goodwill and interests in community activities.

  • Bachelor’s Degree required or 7-10 years of direct work experience in manufacturing and quality in lieu of degree.
  • Prior cold heading and automotive industry experience is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in use of quality tools application (like G8D, 5xwhy, FMEA or Ishikawa), support excellence in using of these tools for all other employee.
  • Highly collaborative, with demonstrated effectiveness working with internal stakeholders as well as customers.
  • Strong working knowledge of business operations, and customer requirements.
  • Proven metrics-oriented management style.
  • Great coaching and mentoring abilities.
  • Must be process-oriented with a strong bias for results.
