Position at ITW Construction North America

The Quality Engineering Manager is responsible for establishing a quality assurance system and driving tool quality improvement efforts that promote customer satisfaction.  In this role, you will also develop and administer tool quality control plans, direct quality/product assurance efforts, internal policies/procedures, and supplier policies/procedures to meet and exceed customer expectations.

The Global Tool Unit (GTU) is a part of ITW’s Construction Segment. The GTU innovates, develops, and manufactures best-in-class Power Fastening Systems for the global construction market.  Our highly differentiated tools are specified to be used in a variety of applications including wood framing, wood trim, and steel to concrete installations.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead the organization in driving an environment of never-ending quality improvement while maintaining focus on customer quality
  • Champion quality initiatives and report global quality measurements to key stakeholders
  • Establish supplier quality requirements, verify quality plans and ensure supplier corrective actions are properly implemented
  • Proactively engage suppliers in order to ensure ongoing quality performance improvement
  • Identify, prioritize and lead engineering in resolution of existing and potential quality problems
  • Support concurrent engineering efforts by participating in design development projects by representing Quality Assurance and our Customers
  • Ensure proper information flow on quality concerns to Service Parts, Distributors, and affiliates
  • Partner with Marketing and Sales to determine exposure/impact of quality problems as well as potential improvements
  • Establish/maintain effective systems of internal communications to all quality stakeholders
  • Identify, lead and develop talent to maximize individual, team and organizational effectiveness 
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor degree required; Engineering or equivalent degree 
  • At least 5 years of Quality Supervisory and/or Quality Manager experience
  • Demonstrated experience in setting QA standards, policies, and methodologies
  • Proven continuous improvement experience
  • Critical problem solving including analytical/root cause analysis skills
  • Project management experience a must 
  • Successful team management experience—direct and cross-functional  
  • Up to 20% travel; domestic and international
