JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Summary:

The Quality Engineer will lead important quality control and quality assurance initiatives, including product and material non-conformances, root cause analyses, and corrective actions. Working closely with manufacturing, R&D, sourcing, sales, and outside vendors, this person plays an important role in ensuring product compliance, quality output, and customer satisfaction.

The Quality Engineer will also work on process improvement. This includes, but is not limited to, identifying opportunities to improve and streamline the overall non-conformance process and reviewing the efficiency and effectiveness of QC testing protocol.

Additionally, this person will contribute to ISO 9001:2015 efforts, ensuring adoption, compliance, and effectiveness throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overall product quality. From raw materials to WIP to finished goods, the Quality Engineer is responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and addressing quality complaints and compliance.
  • Issue non-conformances – both internally and with outside vendors. Place materials on hold as needed.
  • Conduct root cause analyses.
  • Develop and implement corrective actions. Follow up to determine if corrective actions have been effective.
  • Track quality complaints and non-conformances. Identify trends and opportunities. Generate monthly reports to share with management.
  • Show improvement in overall quality through reduction in complaints, non-conformances, improvement in customer satisfaction, etc.
  • Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with work instructions, quality specifications, etc.
  • Identify opportunities and solutions for process improvements resulting in higher quality output.
  • Manage vendor audit program, attending and conducting regular audits with our top suppliers. Issue reports and follow up on any non-conformances.
  • Manage internal Material Review Board, tracking non-conforming product and actions needed to correct.
  • Contribute to ISO 9001:2015 efforts across the organization. This includes semi-annual ISO audits, annual QMS audits, and management review meetings.
  • Develop a robust understanding of our products and manufacturing processes.
  • Manage equipment and device calibration program.
  • Backup and support others on the Quality team.
  • Additional job activities as may be required by the department.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 5-7 years of work experience in QC/QA; 2-3 years in a specialty chemical field.
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Self-starter with initiative and follow through.
  • Demonstrated peer leadership.
  • Experience with data analysis and reporting.
  • Results driven. Desire to show improvement and impact.
  • Team player willing to do what it takes to get the job done and pitch in where needed.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others. This person will partner with many departments and functional areas and will need to develop effective relationships.
  • Excellent communication skills with all levels of an organization. Clear communication and follow through are important for success.
  • Curiosity and ability to trouble shoot.
  • Computer literate and strong organization skills.
