Job Description



Summary:



Plan, coordinates and directs quality control programs on manufacturing floor designed to ensure continuous production of products consistent with established customer requirements.  Works closely with Production and Engineering. 



 



Primary Responsibilities:




  • Direct workers engaged in inspection and testing activities




  • Develop robust MQC/CP’s for Production Quality Control.




  • Ensure continuous control over materials, facilities and products




  • Investigates and responds to customer complaints regarding quality




  • Serve as liaison between customer and ITW




  • Investigates and adjusts customer complaints




  • Reviews control of nonconformance material disposition and inspection of reworked product




  • Responsible for document control of manufacturing and quality documents, including distribution, removal of obsolete forms and work instructions




  • Monthly review of data books and sample boards




  • Directs and coordinates quality inspection of parts, components, and material produced by subcontractors and vendors to work towards continuous improvement




  • Participate in surveillance of subcontractors manufacturing processes and control subcontractor performance system




  • Involvement in receiving area for standards needed by vendors




  • Review quality problems with engineering when needed to produce a better product




  • Prepare periodic reports containing department activities, problems, subcontractor’s quality system, schedules and rejected items




  • Assist with Toyota document control-creations-receiving records, MQC’s




  • Debit memos for vendor returns-tracking-DMN’s




  • External sort cost activities, tracking, and reporting as needed




  • Process flows created as needed




  • Trouble shoots and problem solves on the floor




  • Maintain color match & color control




  • SKPI – daily checks




  • Production check fixture gage calibration




  • Internal quality control requirements;(boundary sample boards, hourly check sheets, work instructions, operator visuals, lot control, defect accumulation sheets, etc.




  • Work with Manufacturing to insure all necessary paperwork for each program is accurate, in place and understood by team




  • Maintaining of RW area for proper disposition and tracking of defects




  • Manage and reply to QIRs and QPRs to customer after full investigation, sort findings and team involvement-track results for future




  • Work with customer on any sort activity-visit when needed for closure




  • Monitor, track and post customer PPM




  • Insure daily monitoring and posting of customer measurable (SKPI)




Job Requirements



Requirements:




  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required and 3+ years related experience




  • Problem Solving Skills – Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner.  Gathers and analyzes information skillfully.  Develops alternative solutions.  Works well in group problem solving situations.  SPC & GD&T knowledge




  • Technical Skills –  strives to continuously build knowledge and skills.  Shares expertise with others.




  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills




  • Customer service skills required




  • Quality – Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness.  Looks for ways to improve and promote quality.  Applies feedback to improve performance.




  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and other employees.




  • Computer literacy/experience, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word




  • Able to organize projects, create timelines, and meet strict deadlines as needed




  • Ability to motivate, guide and develop team of technical professionals




  • Able to work independently and in a team environment




  • Automotive manufacturing and injection molding experience a plus


     




Physical Demands:




  • Work normally requires a low level of physical effort in bending, reaching, lifting, and manual dexterity




  • Must be able to lift to 35 pounds repetitively




  • Computer/telephone use is moderate




  • Ability to stand for long periods of time on manufacturing floor




  • Frequent walking 




  • Willing to travel; primarily domestic and occasionally international
