Job Description

BASIC DESCRIPTION:

ITW Welding continues to build its capabilities in software development processes, as a core competency, for arc data monitoring solutions. The solutions include cloud-based Internet of Things platform, PC applications, and embedded monitoring devices. To support the effort, we are looking for an experienced software quality assurance engineer to be a key driver of quality through testing. The software QA engineer will be a key contributor in the written test procedures and test execution. This position requires a highly motivated individual with exceptional communications and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with engineering teams, marketing, and product management to ensure quality and reliability in innovative products that serve our customer needs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Primary responsibilities include design, development, and execution of QA procedures for the Industrial Equipment Division New Product Development Insight initiatives. A critical part of this role is the implementing QA best practices with a strong commitment to quality.
  • Collaborate with software engineers and business analyst to understand feature development and identify best testing path
  • Identify and document bugs effectively with relevant detail for actionable mitigation
  • Design and execute tests to duplicate field identified bugs
  • Participate in agile project meetings and be responsible for assigned action items
  • Work effectively with electrical, power electronics, welding, and mechanical engineers
  • Work with a sense of urgency while balancing calculated risks

Job Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Technical background in software development process with a minimum of 2-years of QA experience
  • Proficiency with software testing processes
  • Experience writing manual testing procedures
  • Experience with structured testing management systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Desire to build expertise in a variety of software technologies
  • This individual must be self-starter and have strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Candidate must be a team player with a positive attitude

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS A PLUS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 5-years of QA experience
  • Experience testing PC applications, cloud solutions, and embedded solutions
  • Experience with Microsoft TFS/DevOps
  • Experience with Agile or Scrum software development process in a team environment
  • Experience writing automated tests in a scripting language
  • Experience with Cmdlets
  • Experience with databases and languages (e.g. SQL)
  • Experience with embedded development boards, RS485/422 communication, and signal generation
  • Familiarity with basic electrical circuits
  • Familiarity with Ethernet and wireless communications stacks (e.g. TCP/IP, UDP, Zigbee, Bluetooth, Wifi, etc.)
  • Experience with software version control tools (e.g. Git)
  • Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio
  • Limited travel may be required
