Project Manager - Equipment Summary:

As a key member of the engineering team, the Project Manager-Equipment reports to the Equipment Systems Manager and is responsible for developing industry leading aftermarket proposals, implementing our machine standards strategy, and delivering leading application design and project management services to drive targeted margins while building and maintaining professional relationships with our key ’80’ customers.

The position will be based out of our headquarters in our Greenville, South Carolina location.

Primary Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning

  • Work with the Product Line Manager, Controls Manager, and Engineering Systems Manager to understand and implement our standardization strategy and ensure that our standards are in line with our key ’80’ opportunities.
  • Ensure that the vision, strategic plan and the annual tactics of the Sales, Marketing, and Engineering team are followed in order to meet target growth metrics.
  • Assist department in meeting the KPIs established by the Application and Execution manager. 

Application and Execution Support

  • Manage aftermarket/equipment engineering projects from start to finish, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
  • Monitor progress of projects against the project schedule and effectively communicate this to the team. Clearly communicate and react to any changes in schedule that may impact the customer.
  • Assist the Application and Execution team to ensure that commercial quotes are delivered with high quality, best in class applications and accuracy to meet expected lead times, while supporting our overall growth targets.
  • Assist in developing an accurate forecast and outlook for projects on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
  • Assist the department in maintaining backlog, schedule, and meeting overall commercial and execution timelines.
  • Assists in the coordination of engineering, procurement, and service personnel.
  • Coordinates client and internal activities including design review meetings, quality assurance requirements, contract issues, and obtains acceptance by the client of equipment and systems.
  • Prepare and deliver progress reports, schedule updates, cash flow projections, and budget reports.
  • Presents project reviews to management, as required.
  • Establishes requirements for project completion (punch list.)  Obtains client’s acceptance (release authorization) and final payment.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Equipment Systems Manager.

Continuous Improvement / ITW Toolbox Implementation

  • Participate in 80/20, USa, MRD, In-Lining, and continuous improvement initiatives which achieve results consistent with company goals.
  • Understand the metrics and KPI targets for the department to drive best-in-industry performance to produce optimum manufacturing results and P&L improvement.

Job Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent engineering/project management experience required.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce results within a team environment and to gain alignment and develop productive working relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • General knowledge of accounting practices and ability to learn GAP accounting practices and revenue recognition practices to accurately provide detailed financial outlooks.
  • Able to define a problem, gather data to draw conclusions, and develop appropriate plans to address.
  • Strong change management, analytical, problem solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Good understanding of business dynamics and organizational design.
  • Good business analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent time management, prioritization abilities, and project management.
  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, communication, and presentation.
  • Willing to travel when necessary.
  • Cross cultural awareness.
