Position Summary:

The Controls Engineer Supervisor will be responsible for leading Capital and Automation Projects, installing new equipment and updating controls while leading a team of approximately three. This role provides significant exposure to automation, integration and safety that require both research and implementation of projects intended to increase throughput ,and provide both robust and safe operations. The successful candidate will interface with the entire Operations team, consisting of: Safety, Quality, Production, Shipping and Facility Maintenance.


Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Lead all aspects of Engineering and Capital Projects and a Controls Engineering Team.
  2. Provide technical expertise to Machine Safety and Guarding projects.
  3. Prepare, maintain and update project timing schedules, ensuring all milestones are maintained
  4. Liaises with internal resources and external suppliers to achieve results in a cost-effective manner.
  5. Assist electricians as needed to troubleshoot and upgrade manufacturing equipment.
  6. Design machine controls for the manufacturing equipment.
  7. Lead the installation of controls and auxiliaries on production equipment.
  8. Maintains a thorough knowledge of PC’s and PLCs with their various software systems, i.e. Ladder Logic, NC Software, Qbasic and Network Protocols.
  9. Lead the research and implementation of PC to PLC based operating and control systems, including machine controls.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:     

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or working towards degree. Electrical or Mechanical Degree preferred
  • 5+ years of related work experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of PLCs and PLC programming.       SolidWorks and AutoCAD experience highly desirable
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications

  • Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders (equipment suppliers, outside engineers) to support project development activities.
  • Ability to lead a team effectively.
  • Ability to work independently, manage projects and complete assignments in a timely manner.
  • Self-starter; works with minimal supervision; capable of offering up and making decisions.
  • Effective oral, interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Team-player with aptitude to learn the ITW culture and work within a fast-pace environment.
