Job Description

As Production Supervisor for the Finishing department at ITW Covid, you will lead your team on a course of continuous improvement to ensure we deliver the high-quality products our customers expect in a safe, timely and cost-effective manner, while positioning us for growth in the security market.  You will also be actively involved in the development and implementation of production processes necessary to bring new products on stream.



ITW Covid (Cranbury, NJ) is a member of the ITW Specialty Films division of Illinois Tool Works Inc. (ITW), a Fortune 200 global multi-industrial manufacturing leader, and is part of the Specialty Products Segment.  ITW Specialty Films has manufacturing and sales in North America, Europe and Asia.   The division offers a comprehensive portfolio of specialty films, foils, laminates and thermal transfer ribbons (TTR) that are used to mark, decorate, and enhance a wide variety of consumer and industrial products, packaging and labels. In addition, we produce secure holograms, laminates and overlay solutions that help to authenticate and protect travel documents, personal IDs and other official documents around the world.



What you will do: 



As a vital member of the ITW Covid operations team, you will collaborate with Operations management and department shift leads to define ongoing safety, quality and productivity improvement targets, and lead your team of operators to deliver results.  In this role, you will be responsible to: 


  • Secure and organize the department’s resources to deliver the production schedule, thereby enabling the business to meet customer requirements on time and in full daily.

  • Ensure all operations within the department conform to defined SOP’s, and that standards of Safety, Quality and Security are compliant with legal and regulatory requirements and that these standards are maintained and improved upon an ongoing basis.

  • Ensure all department members are working to their full potential; that they are adequately trained, that they are fully aware of the required safety and quality standards, and they operate to these standards on an ongoing basis.

  • Ensure all products are produced to meet defined specifications within proven process capability, and that all process records are maintained as required by SOP’s.

  • Maintain productivity metrics as defined by Operations management, and use the ITW Tool Box to help identify and deliver initiatives to improve throughput and reduce cost of operation so the business meets its variable margin targets.

  • Support the implementation of new product developments initiatives required to meet business growth needs.

  • Assist Quality Assurance to determine the root cause of product variations outside of upper and lower control limits, and define and implement corrective and preventive actions to resolve quality issues identified in the department.

  • Take active ownership for one’s own safety and the safety of coworkers and the department, fostering a culture of accountability, employee engagement and prevention.  

Job Requirements

  • Ability to effectively communicate with staff at all levels of the organization including senior management, and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Customer and service orientation.



 Education and Experiences:


  • Requires minimum of BS Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field; or 5 to 7 years relevant experience in a manufacturing environment that processes polyester, paper or other materials.  Understanding of holographic manufacturing a plus.

  • Proven record of continuous improvement in a manufacturing setting, preferably within an ISO 9000 accredited facility.
