POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Production Supervisor position is responsible for providing supervision to all production employees within an assigned shift. General responsibilities are to support Plant Manager in managing, directing, implementing, and achieving safety, quality, service, cost and productivity goals They will be conversant with the ITW business model, and use the ITW tools in their daily management activities. Successful candidate must be able to motivate personnel using a proactive approach to creatively solve equipment and manufacturing problems as well as drive yield improvements and cost reduction efforts.

 PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Drive a strong safety culture ensuring a safe and healthy workplace. Actively promote a behavioral based safety approach and ensure all safety policies and procedures are followed.
  • Utilize ITW FtB tools and concepts in decision making. This includes prioritizing the 80 over the 20, utilizing USa tools to drive process improvement and simplifications and ensures that staff is conversant with these concepts.
  • Focus on improving and simplifying existing processes utilizing ITW tools. Develop or update documentation to ensure consistency of performance. Works with Quality Manager to record all process changes.
  • Manage daily production schedule to ensure safety, service, quality, cost and productivity objectives are met. Track and utilize KPIs in daily activities. Ensure staff is aware of the operational targets and are engaged in activities to ensure they are met. Set high expectations for staff and motivate staff to meet those expectations.
  • Ensure OT requirements are met to ensure ongoing operational capabilities.
  • Actively coach staff members. Direct and guide performance of employees, including performance reviews, and employee counseling.
  • Maintain daily attendance including T&A system, vacation scheduling, clock ins and outs, etc. Ensure employees are notified promptly of any attendance issues, including issuing warning letters promptly when required.
  • Work with other supervisors to coordinate needs. Manage shift handover between incoming and outgoing shifts to ensure smooth operation.
  • Ensure new employee’s training requirements are met. Provides feedback to employee on any shortcoming and direct corrective actions as needed.
  • Work with EHS&S Manager to identify and provide all safety training for production employees and provide proper support documentation.
  • Communicate and enforce all company procedures, rules and policies.
  • Work with Safety Manager to prompt accident investigations and assist in incident investigations.
  • Ensure proper procedures are followed during all aspects of production for good process control and product quality. This includes ensuring that Shop Orders are followed, and that potential quality issues are proactively monitored, addressed and corrected.
  • Maintain and review all assigned checklists, reports and paper work necessary to provide documentation relative to process control, quality, and payroll and production records.
  • Maintain proper overtime list(s)

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associates degree required or the equivalent from a 2-year technical school. Bachelor’s degree preferred. 
  • Minimum 3-5 years in a supervisory role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and teambuilding skills.
  • Must be able to work 12-hours 4 rotating work shifts days and nights.
  • Self-motivated and achievement oriented.
  • Must be capable of leading and motivating employees.
  • Must be able to manage multiple priorities and prioritize efforts.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Computer skills a must (Microsoft Word and Excel, Oracle experience a plus)
  • High attention to detail
  • Well organized, ability to keep organized hard and soft data
  • Willingness to learn and follow written and verbal instructions
  • Problem solving skills / Technical Aptitude.

 WORK CONDITIONS:

  • Environmental Conditions:(Dust, fumes, heat, cold, noise, vibration, toxic conditions, work hazards, etc.) Controlled environment, noise from refrigeration equipment, etc. – Activity: Work is performed in doors on concrete floors involving extreme temperatures. Requires safety shoes, ear plugs, and safety glasses. Must be able to occasionally climb stairs and work elevations of more than 20 feet. Work in high noise levels that requires ear plugs. Must be physically able to exert up to 60 pounds of push force and up to 80 pounds of pull force.
  • Must be willing to work 12-hours 4 rotating work shifts.
  • Must be willing to perform job functions following set safety procedures.
