Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Production Manager will promote an engaged and safe work environment. This leader must be a strong business-minded leader capable of driving results, reduce cost, obtain on-time delivery, develop employees, and be a positive culture steward. Responsible for establishing goals including safety, quality, and performance measures. This position will supervise the Production team. This leader will apply the ITW Principles to strategizing new ideas to move the business to a higher level. This position will be located in Beecher, IL.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and root cause analysis key performance indicator misses through the use of the ITW Toolbox.
  • Establish and maintain internal inventory targets to improve inventory levels.
  • Develop plans for the control of budget spend and labor efficiency with Human Resource and Operations Manager.
  • Develop and implement process to handle demand fluctuations including large orders, targeting selling and seasonality.
  • Coach production team to have positive and proactive attitudes, personal accountability, and superior manufacturing quality as well as encouraging ownership of operations, products and processes.
  • Working with Supervisors, ensure consistent emphasis is placed on building relationships, being visible, communicate, encourage creativity and innovation.
  • Demonstrate and encourage effective communications to personnel at all levels of the business.
  • Coach team members to resolve conflict in a fair, consistent and empowered manner within a team environment.
  • Develop & support team members and assess performance and goals regularly, encouraging the achievement of effective goals.
  • Support cost, quality, delivery and productivity initiatives through employee involvement as well as continue to encourage empowerment and to drive ITW principles as well as 80/20 efforts.
  • Work with Manufacturing Engineer to maintain and improve the manufacturing environment to harmoniously respond to changing customer needs.
  • Maintain a superior team safety awareness.
  • Coordinate Safety Program by mentoring Safety Supervisors in the Enterprise Safety Strategy.
  • Prepare and maintain disaster preparedness and recovery plan for employee safety and production continuity
  • Provide reports on critical information.
  • Understand how our factory production system develops and fulfills products.
  • Builds a network of inter-company peers and subject matter experts for consultation on best practices for managing people and for system/process efficiency.
  • Ensure qualified personnel staff in all positions and recommend training needs, provide coaching and development.
  • Will work closely with support staff, Human Resource and Operations Manager.

Qualifying Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management) required.
  • 3 years of leading a team in a manufacturing environment within a facility employing 50+ production employees; focusing on safety, quality, and production
  • Demonstrated understanding of the P&L statement and the manufacturing cost-drivers
  • Skilled at performance management; providing formal and informal feedback to employees
  • Possess the track record of a proven leader and team player, demonstrates positive attitude, takes personal accountability, coaches, listens, approachable, and resolves issues/conflicts in timely manner.
  • Exhibit encouragement of diverse ideas, focus on coaching/developing strengths of team members and facilitate effective communication between shifts
  • Be customer-focused with management and support staff; understand how the business functions link together to support the customer (i.e. engineering, materials, and sales)
  • Strong leadership and teaming capabilities with the ability to operate independently, affect change across functions, and have a track record of delivering results.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects/work streams simultaneously.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) to prepare reports, presentations, and analyses

Preferred Requirements

  • 5+ years of strategic operations leadership experience; including the responsibilities of safety, quality, and production.
  • Proficient in using the ERP systems for the business (ie. Dataflow)
  • Experience driving employee involvement and encouraging creativity
  • Demonstrated project management, analytical, strategic, problem solving experience; displaying an ability to work effectively within complex decision making and organizational structures.
  • Understanding of a variety of operational excellence competencies including, but not limited to: ITW Toolbox, Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma, Visual Management, Value Stream Mapping, Standard Work, Kaizen, Poke Yoke, etc.
