The Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced marketing professional to manage products associated with our Low Force electromechanical range of testing instruments. The primary responsibility is to develop and execute a global product roadmap that ensures sustainable differentiation for the business in the future and maintains a balanced portfolio of investments in core products through new products that create growth in new markets. 
The product manager works closely with cross functional teams throughout the product development process, developing and implementing marketing plans to meet bookings alongside profit targets for a given product line. An intimate knowledge of customer and applications knowledge is required and gained via personal testing experience and voice of the customer research. The Product Manager is also responsible for providing regular communication, support and training to the global sales and service organizations, driving activities and decisions focusing on maintaining Instron’s high level of customer satisfaction.  Travel amounts will vary depending on where the product is in the life cycle, but could involve anything from day trips to 10-day international excursions.  Expect on the order of 25% travel.
Primary Responsibilities include:
  • Managing products from our Low Force Applications portfolio through their life cycle
  • Driving a solutions across development teams through market requirements, product definition, and launch activities
  • Developing and implementing a cohesive short and long term product line roadmap
  • Collecting and synthesizing customer insights, pain points and competitive intelligence through customer interviews, market research, and channel knowledge
  • Developing the core marketing messaging and positioning for the defined product line
  • Defining pricing and sales strategy/policies for the product line and driving these global
  • Understanding the competitive landscape including competitive product and pricing strategies
  • Improving product profitability through cost reductions and recommending pricing adjustments
  • Responsible for providing and analyzing data on product volume and customer marketing information
  • Maximize effectiveness and efficiency in all aspects of product management and decision making
Successful candidates will have a Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field such as any Engineering discipline or Materials Science as well at least 5 years of marketing, product management and/or sales experience.  Additional requirements:
  • Exceptionally self-motivated and directed
  • Must have a passion for technology and innovation
  • Excellent communications, interpersonal, and leadership skills
  • High level organizational skills to maximize self-productivity under pressure of deadlines and changing priorities
  • Have an understanding of customer’s buying cycle in the capital equipment market.
