The Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced marketing professional to manage products associated with our Low Force electromechanical range of testing instruments. The primary responsibility is to develop and execute a global product roadmap that ensures sustainable differentiation for the business in the future and maintains a balanced portfolio of investments in core products through new products that create growth in new markets. 
The product manager works closely with cross functional teams throughout the product development process, developing and implementing marketing plans to meet bookings alongside profit targets for the product line defined. An intimate knowledge of customer and applications knowledge is required and gained via personal testing experience and voice of the customer research. The Product Manager is also responsible for providing regular communication, support & training to the global sales and service organizations, driving activities and decisions focusing on maintaining Instron’s high level of customer satisfaction.
  1. Must possess excellent communications, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  2. Must have in-depth knowledge of materials testing and applications, target markets and product portfolio. This knowledge level is usually acquired via a combination of completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in a related technical field and/or Engineering as well as approximately 5 – 9 years of marketing, product management and/or sales experience in a manufacturing company environment.
  3. Advanced technical or business-related degree an advantage.
  4. Must have an understanding of or experience in capital equipment sales, preferably with material testing equipment.
  5. Have an understanding of customer’s buying cycle in the capital equipment market.
  6. Must have a passion for technology and innovation.
  7. Must have a good working understanding of selling and marketing in a global environment.
Working Conditions:
  1. Daily interactions with a dynamic, enthusiastic, diverse and highly-motivated Product Marketing and Global Product Support Team.
  2. Traditional office environment with little or no exposure to adverse conditions and the benefit of highly flexible work-arrangement options.
  3. Must have a desire to travel as required. Travel amounts will vary depending on where the product is in the life cycle, but could involve anything from day trips to 10-day international excursions. Expect on the order of 25% travel.
