Job Description

The MIG Gun Division of ITW Welding is hiring a Product Manager for the Oil & Gas, General Manufacturing, and Commercial welding industries.

Reporting: This position will report to a Segment Market Manager. 

 

Location: Preferably our Beecher, IL facility; other locations considered on a case by case basis.

Basic Description: This position is a key role within the strategic marketing organization responsible for managing the growth and vitality of several product lines from cradle-to-grave.  You will assist in setting strategic direction for the assigned product lines and execute tactical initiatives by working closely with other product managers, product engineering, marketing communications, operations, customer service, and sales to assure product & business deliverables are met.



Essential Functions

•       Drive organic growth:  Work with and support our Field Sales and Field Technical Services teams by providing product support including targeted selling, training, configuration assistance, special pricing, availability, and special product requests.

•       Manage product lifecycle:  Conduct 80/20 analysis of product & customer data to determine and execute effective product portfolio management actions including product roadmaps, product line simplification, strategic pricing, and part number reduction.

•       Lead product pricing: Research market pricing on comparable products and next-best customer alternatives, determine optimal price adjustments and execute price changes within division’s pricing and/or ERP tools.

•       Support continuous improvement: Collaborate with manufacturing & engineering teams on quality issues, sourcing initiatives, change requests and continuous improvement initiatives.

•       Manage product launches and changes: Assure launch and business objectives are achieved.  Provide relevant content such as updated specifications, features, benefits and value propositions.

•       Conduct product training:  As required for our Sales Team, end-users, and distributors.

Job Requirements



Minimum Qualifications (required)

•       Post-Secondary Education with focus in Engineering, Business, or Marketing or equivalent experience.

•       Minimum 3 years of product management, product support, technical support, marketing or related experience preferably in a manufacturing environment.

•       Project management experience.

•       Must be proficient with Microsoft applications.

•       Ability to learn and work in ERP and CRM systems.

•       Must be willing to travel (up to 25%), some international travel likely.

Preferred Experience

•       Knowledge of welding processes is beneficial to job function.

•       Due to the technical nature of our products, preference will be given to candidates with a strong technical background and experience in relevant applications.

•       Familiar with both direct and indirect sales channel models.
