Job Description

The Pre-Sales Engineer (PSE) will be the sales lead throughout the pre-sales cycle that supports and drives evaluations to success.  The PSE supports sales productivity on large projects by securing the “technical close” in complex solutions. The PSE collaborates with sales, service, engineering, and technical support resources to ensure proposed deals include technical solutions that accurately address customer needs, and are appropriately supported by key customer technical decision-makers. The PSE is responsible for achieving a profit and productivity quota made up of the combined expectations of the sales resources, market, and/or channel supported.



Responsibilities

  • Drive revenues by managing the pre-sales technical process and recommending Diagraph’s technology to customers, and to drive product and service offerings.
  • Works opportunities assigned to the Eastern region sales team, prioritizing effort based on maximizing total impact on team productivity and profit, or as directed by the sales manager.
  • Proactively scopes the technical solution required to address customer requirements, assesses customers’ met and unmet needs, and recommends solutions that optimize value for both the customer and the organization.
  • Secures input from all necessary solution stakeholders within the customer firm. Adapts solutions, as necessary, to ensure appropriate support.
  • Coordinates closely with internal sales, sales support, and service resources to align solution design with customers’ business requirements.
  • Secures from customer technical staff commitments needed to ensure a deal’s “technical close.”
  • Manage the customer proposal process and ensure that all technical information and recommendations addressing customer requirements are accurate, properly defined and detailed.
  • Meets assigned targets for profitable sales growth in assigned product lines, market areas, channel, or teams supported.
  • Monitors customer support for technical solutions proposed throughout the sales process, and alerts the sales and account teams to potential risks of deal closure.
  • Show high standards of technical thought leadership with customers through activities such as active education, consultation, presentation, technical evaluations, objection handling or general supportive discussion.
  • Ensures successful transition from pre-sales to implementation and finally to post-sales support.
  • Maintain focus on continuous improvement by applying 80/20, PLS, and USa principles/techniques and make process improvement recommendations to management.

Job Requirements



Qualifications

Education:  Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, Marketing, or Sales required.

Experience/Skills: 

  • Preferred engineering skills include knowledge of electronics, mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and computer programming.
  • Five years of relevant experience, with at least two years in application engineering preferred.
  • Experience in the design and development of programmed applications.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects in a short period of time, multitask, and cope with deadline pressure.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to generate technical reports.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent problem solving, troubleshooting and teamwork skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, communication, and presentation skillsMinimum of three (3) years progressively responsible experience in a management position preferably in an operations/manufacturing environment.
  • Highly motivated and results oriented.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Strong project management skills and possesses the ability to multi-task
