ITW is seeking a Patent Project Coordinator to support at least two in-house patent attorneys.  The range of activities for the PPC is likely to include:

  • Interpreting correspondence to identify docket dates for patent prosecution.
  • Working with patent attorneys to meet deadlines.
  • Utilizing electronic files to store and withdraw correspondence and data
  • Preparing, having executed, and occasional filing of IP documents.
  • Coordinating and routing foreign filing recommendations and instructions.
  • Generating and formatting reports.
  • Downloading and organizing patents and patent-related documents.
  • Creating and maintaining an agreement docket.
  • Formatting specialized forms and documents.
  • Designing presentation slides as needed.
  • Assisting with IP-related recognition processes and events.
  • Liaising with IP staff and general legal staff on projects.
  • Understanding, improving, and simplifying processes associated with workflows.
  • Performing other departmental duties as assigned.

Experience & Skills Required:         

  • Associate's degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Knowledge of, or experience with, patents strongly preferred
  • 1-2 years of experience in an administrative support role and/or projects-related role
  • Technical competence in the use of various software programs, such as Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.
  • Experience managing data in spreadsheets and databases
  • Ability to become familiar with complex corporate structure in order to properly review and route necessary legal documents
  • Ability to efficiently multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work effectively with IP and legal team
  • Status as Notary Public is a plus
  • Candidate must have a strong sense of personal responsibility
