Job Description

ITW Commercial Construction North America is seeking an Operations Manager to provide leadership and support to production plants in order to manufacture a product that satisfies our cost, quality, and service requirements. Establishes high performance expectations and holds team accountable. Drives change and improvement within the plants while setting an example of teamwork, safety, integrity and excellence.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Promote, lead and direct plant leaders to develop a safety culture that achieves zero accidents.
  • Assure compliance with EPA, OSHA, and State regulations concerning worker safety, waste management, water management and hazard controls.
  • Identify, lead and develop talent in order to maximize individual, team and organizational effectiveness in meeting company goals.  This may include selecting and on-boarding talent, communicating effectively to foster a culture of engagement, cascading vision, creating goal alignment; and coaching through feedback, development planning and performance management.
  • Clearly communicate high performance expectations and address mediocre performance / role fit issues with conviction. Able to build and develop a strong and diverse team of direct reports.
  • Develops and implements clear KPI’s and customer focused metrics that continuously improve productivity and cost with strong ‘80’ focus.
  • Direct plant leadership in the coordination, communication, and attainment of daily /weekly production schedules assuring customer needs/commitments are met on an MRD basis.
  • Assures quality processes are consistently applied in all production facilities
  • In collaboration with the sales team; apply capacity/scheduling model and manage manufacturing capacity and constraint issues to maintain customer service levels and meet delivery commitments.
  • Utilize systems and resources to proactively maintain and conserve capital equipment, including driving pro-active preventive maintenance and repair programs. Prioritize issues and activities to develop sustainable improvement in equipment performance.
  • Monitor raw material purchasing and inventory control to ensure on-time raw material availability to production based on MRD demands.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications:

  • Appropriate professional qualification (e.g. Bachelor's degree in Engineering) and minimum 7 years of related experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing multiple departments, including production, shipping and receiving, maintenance, etc. within a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated experience in LEAN implementation and driving change within a manufacturing environment
  • An understanding of metals manufacturing and fabrication preferred
  • Demonstrated experience coaching and development of exempt and non-exempt staff
