Job Description

Summary

The Operations Director is a key member of the senior leadership team responsible for developing, leading and implementing a manufacturing roadmap (both tactical and strategic) that drives operational excellence and supports profitable growth for the ITW Global Body Repair Division (GBR), while using the ITW Business Model. You will also lead a cross-functional team ensuring employee bench strength and staffing levels are in place to successfully meet and exceed our operational, customer, and organizational short and long-term objectives. 

Primary Responsibilities: (Other duties as assigned)

Strategic Planning

  • Partner with the Leadership team to develop and execute Annual and Long Range Plans based on good understanding of business drivers and operations principles.
  • Develop the Operations strategy and the annual plan in collaboration with department managers to optimize operations.
  • Become a front to back (FTB) 80/20 expert and champion, enabling simplification and growth within GBR.
  • Analysis of manufacturing productivity, capabilities, and capacity utilization to drive global and local decisions.
  • Working with VP/GM and Finance Controller, develop capital expenditure plans. Ensure compliance with company needs for capital investments and improvement projects and execute on all operational CAPEX projects.
  • Lead the global strategic sourcing initiatives for the division to ensure implementation of global sourcing strategy and achievement of supply chain goals.

Operational Planning and Management

  • Work with managers to analyze each facility KPI´s, develop robust manufacturing plans to maintain high standards of manufacturing operations and ensure that products meet company and customer quality standards and are cost efficient.
  • Develop and implement a simplification process/plan that is aligned with FTB 80/20 principles.
  • Reallocate operational resources to align with Enterprise and Division goals. Ensure that the company has the manufacturing capabilities to meet and exceed industry and customer requirements.
  • Manage production processes: capacity planning/production planning/ forecasting. Define production priorities.
  • Pro-actively direct the resolution of any operational, manufacturing, maintenance and plant services issues to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
  • Build a network across the Platform by keeping close contact with operations and sourcing teams in other Divisions to identify best practices in manufacturing, supply chain and logistics.
  • Consistently reduce costs through productivity gains and souring improvements.
  • Support new product developments working closely with Sales and Innovation & Product Management teams to ensure that new products are manufactured efficiently and timely

 ITW Toolbox Implementation

  • Create a culture of continuous improvement by using the ITW Toolbox. Leader of 80/20, USa, MRD, In-Lining demonstrating improvements in the financial metrics.
  • Monitor and analyze each facility performance and KPI´s. Actively adjust and implement changes necessary to drive best-in-industry performance, produce optimum results, P&L improvement and achieve operational excellence.

People Management

Identify, lead and develop talent to maximize individual, team and organizational effectiveness in meeting company goals.  Create a high performing team. Grow talent in line with ITW Great Leaders framework.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor´s degree required.  MS/ MBA is a plus.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in operations management. Must have knowledge and experience of production, automation, inventory control, good purchase practices, material handling, warehousing and logistics. Experience running multiple facilities is a plus.
  • Proven understanding of business drivers and confident with financial data analysis
  • Must have a good understanding of environmental regulation
  • Familiarity with QA and QC quality systems
  • Must have previous experience leading production and sourcing teams, motivating them to succeed and leading them through change. Experience working with remote teams will be a plus.
  • Exceptional track record of identifying, recommending and implementing changes to improve productivity and reduce costs. Familiar with change management practices and principles.
