This key positionis responsible for the invention, design, testing, validation, commercialization,and ongoing support of Buehler products and designs. The candidate should becreative, eager to take on challenges, and have strong technical,organizational and communication skills related to developing, supporting andmanaging mechanical design of industrial systems.     • This role will focus on designing andsupporting machines from concept through production. This includes initiating concept designsbased on addressing customer and production needs, communicating those designsto other team members, developing those designs on 3D CAD and managing/supportingthose designs to completion including iterative engineering testing andvalidation.

    • Develop product designs utilizing 3Dsolid modeling software. Create engineering drawings, bill of materials,manufacturing assembly instructions and product testing procedures.

    • Complete product design riskassessments (FMEA and safety risk assessments) on product designs and adjustproduct designs to minimize risk.

    • Create test procedures and oversee theactual testing and analyze the results. Provide support in the development of quality, manufacturing andsupplier inspection instructions.

    • Provide engineering support for commercializedproducts and conduct root cause analysis to solve manufacturing or fieldissues. Recommend, implement and track performance of solutions and designchanges.

    • Analyze statistical data and productspecifications to determine standards and establish quality and reliabilityobjectives of finished product.

    • Update and revise documentation and engineering drawings. Prepareand submit engineering change notices. As needed, assist Technical Service with solving customer callissues. 

    • Select and implement appropriate manufacturing processes andvendors to ensure cost-effective, robust products that achieve market success.

    • Communicate with vendors, staff, andmanagement personnel regarding purchases, procedures, product specifications,manufacturing capabilities, and project status.

Job Requirements

Required Experience

    • Requires a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or general engineering preferred plus zero to three years of experience. 
      • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
        • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
          • Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
            • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
              • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
                • Experience using 3D CAD modeling software – Autodesk Inventor or Solidworks preferred.
                  • Ability to work independently, as well as in an interdisciplinary team environment in performing all duties in a timely manner
                  • Ability to use Microsoft Office applications – Word, Excel and Outlook
                      • Familiarity with GD&T, sheet metal design, and welded assemblies is a plus
                        • Familiarity with Instrumentation and Control systems a plus
