Mechanical Assembler – Industrial Group


Simco-Ion, a division of Fortune 200 Illinois Tool Works, is the worldwide leader in static control.  Since 1936, Simco-Ion has developed and manufactured ionization solutions to service the medical, packaging, automotive and plastics

The Mechanical Assembler is responsible for assembling or fabricating mechanical parts, pieces, or products, using a variety of tools and equipment according to Simco-Ion specifications.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities


  • Read, interpret, and follow production drawings, electrical drawings, bill of materials, written instructions and procedures to accurately assemble equipment
  • Use all types of hand tools including but not limited to drills and screw guns.
  • Calculate dimensions or tolerances, using instruments such as micrometers or calipers
  • Operate a milling machine, drill press, and other machine shop equipment
  • CNC machining / programing experience preferred
  • Welding 
  • Maintain inventory levels within the work cell
  • Perform quality work checks to insure products meet set standards
  • Identify product defects and complete appropriate nonconforming product reports
  • Perform all work in accordance with Simco-Ion’s quality standards
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area at all times



  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3+ years mechanical assembly experience required
  • Ability to read and write In English
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to perform work accurately with high attention to detail
  • Self-motivated
  • Ability to solve problems and come up with new ideas to help improve manufacturing processes
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds regularly, using safety equipment and following safe lifting procedures
