Job Description

The material handler position is responsible for moving material as needed to proper areas by performing the following duties:


  • Move raw material (Wire and components) to machines as needed.
  • Move and weigh up product from machines to staging and shipping areas.
  • Move raw material to designated location in facility.
  • Organize empty tubs and wire carriers into cargo boxes.
  • Reads product processing form or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials to be moved.
  • Operates industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
  • Loads and unloads materials on or from pallets, trays, racks, or carrier.
  • Loads materials into vehicles and installs strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit
  • Counts, weighs, and records numbers of unites of materials moved or handles on interplant form.
  • Conveys materials from storage or work sites to designated area.
  • Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials and make ID tags from information provided by suppliers.
  • Prepares purchase blanks for shipments by removing from container and dumping parts into bins and attaching proper documents.
  • Assigns lot numbers to raw material and maintains required records
  • Sign for packages and bring to proper locations using scanner and alphanumeric codes
  • Occasionally perform light maintenance to help maintenance department
  • Remove scrap and record weight
  • Preforms daily preventative maintenance and documents findings
  • Other duties as instructed.


  • High School diploma or the equivalent required; Associates degree preferred
  • Continuous Improvement Mindset
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating, and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Basic math skills including ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide
  • Stand up and Sit Down Fork lift experience required
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Understanding and compliance with safety rules and regulations
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
