Master Scheduler

Location: Waterbury, Connecticut


Division Description: ITW Drawform Division serves major Tier suppliers with tightly toleranced and innovative components for the automotive and industrial markets totaling approximately $200M in revenues globally. The division holds a leadership position in North America and a growing presence in Europe. The division also supports ITW initiatives for our facility in China. 

The division drives profitability by leveraging its innovative solutions, design engineering and global footprint. 

Position Objective: Manage and maintain work orders and inventory within the plant to support on-time delivery to customers.  Plan, prepare, issue and control production schedules and coordinate materials to ensure a controlled flow of approved materials is timed to meet production requirements.  Work cross-functionally with Operations, Supply Chain, Customer Service, Sales, etc., to manage the flow of jobs throughout the manufacturing process.  Balances production and inventory levels with demand.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform planning and scheduling of production, utilizing sales orders, planning reports and forecasted data.
  • Liaise with sales, customer service and manufacturing teams to manage demand, allocate capacity and balance inventory levels for on-time shipment.
  • Work with Operations to prioritize workflow and maintain inventory within target levels. Ensure high level of data integrity to facilitate planning efforts.
  • Analyze forecasts, capacity and production capabilities; and develop feasible production schedules that include lead times needed for raw material and outside processing.
  • Identify bottlenecks in the manufacturing process; work to optimize production in accordance with customer demand.
  • Track actual vs scheduled production and identify causes of missed production targets.
  • Advise and consults with management regarding status of WIP and potential production problems.
  • Prepare work orders, confirm material supply, and take immediate action in case of customer demand changes. Communicate changes in priority to Operations Managers and Production Supervisors.
  • Participate in continuous improvement and cost saving projects.
  • Works closely with the plant controller to develop S&OP outlooks.

Job Requirements


  • Bachelors Degree in Business, Supply Chain or Engineering and 3-5 years of experience in Supply Chain, Planning and/or Scheduling.
  • APICS experience preferred
  • Thorough understanding of ERP systems, KanBan, inventory control and forecasting models.
  • Proven verbal and written communication skills; strong analytical and organizational skills.
