Position Summary
The Automotive Market Manager is a key position within the Electro-Mechanical Business Team responsible for understanding and leveraging the automotive market to achieve growth and profitability goals and ensures that the business remains the global leader. The position leverages first-hand understanding of customer needs, product and applications expertise, in-depth market knowledge and insights towards increased sales effectiveness and market penetration of key products. This position will work along all aspects of the buying cycle but primarily focus on early-cycle, where market insights can provide Instron with a competitive advantage by being recognized as a thought leader in the industry.
Specific responsibilities include:
  • Analyzing key elements of the automotive market to understand business performance, trends and provide business insights.
  • Developing and ensuring implementation of industry specific strategy and product positioning strategy for the automotive industry, including strategy for positioning against competitive products on the basis of our value proposition.
  • Working directly with sales and service teams in support of sales opportunities and with key customers to drive sales.
  • Developing customer facing content to engage the automotive market and position Instron as an industry leader.
  • Ensuring the highest level of market knowledge within the business through coordination and centralization of applications information, sales tools and training materials for both sales and service
  • Coordinating global lead generation and market development programs focused on increased penetration of key products.
  • Leveraging Instron’s social media channels and marketing events to support Instron as a thought leader in the industry.  
Successful candidates should have in-depth knowledge of the automotive market and a good working understanding of materials testing and applications combined with relevant commercial experience.  This knowledge level is usually acquired via a combination of completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in a related technical field and/or Engineering as well as approximately 3 - 5 years of marketing, product testing and/or sales experience in a manufacturing company environment.  Advanced technical or business-related degree an advantage. 
Additional requirements include:
  • Solid understanding of selling and marketing capital equipment in global environment.
