Job Description

Zip-Pak in Carol Stream is seeking a Manufacturing & Development Lab Technician for the Engineering and Innovation Center.

The following outlines accountabilities, responsibilities and competencies essential for the success of this role. Other duties may be assigned.

 Principle Accountabilities

    • Setup and run trials on the extruder line
    • Make high quality sample bags
    • Perform fitness-for-use testing on zipper and finished pouches
    • Assist with product troubleshooting using lab equipment
    • Conducts test to determine integrity of bags
    • Organize and schedule work based on incoming requests
    • Maintain inventory of samples per established list
    • Communicate status of requests

 Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required. Associates degree or equivalent 2 year college, trade school and/or apprenticeship desired
  • Previous technical work experience preferred
  • Mechanical aptitude; able to read engineering drawings
  • Analytical; creative; hand crafting skills
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Self starter with good follow through
  • Must be able to work overtime as required to meet production’s needs as well as flexibility to work around scheduled production hours. 
  • Must have a high level of safety awareness and a record of good safety habits.
