Job Description

The ideal candidate for this position will possess great project and product engineering skills (previous design experience a plus); coupled with high energy; experience to lead, mentor and motivate a team; and intellectual expertise in the areas of injection molding for the automotive industry and APQP processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify opportunities for and implement improvements in current practices and processes and work with team to develop/maintain continuous improvement culture and awareness

  • Conduct product and process flow analysis and implement improvements for costs, productivity and quality

  • Direct and coordinate the engineering support to implement, plan, develop and organize product area

  • Develop assembly machine parameters and maintain standard setup sheets for each part number on the machines, along with troubleshooting problems

  • Follow up on quality reject meetings by addressing immediate quality issues and develop systems to prevent future occurrences

  • Resolve issues related to personnel, profitability, quality, growth, etc.

  • Conduct machine safety reviews along with identifying and ensuring preventative maintenance on automated equipment for continuous improvement

  • Work with manufacturing and automation personnel to improve quality and efficiency on the production floor

  • Assist in new product design process to ensure ease of manufacturability

  • Participate in manufacturing and automation projects, including creating and updating PFMEA documents

  • Submit capital requirement and justifications to management

  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial engineering or equivalent experience required

  • Five years related work experience required

  • Good mechanical aptitude along with good computer literacy and skills required

  • Experience in injection molding strongly preferred

  • 3D CAD systems knowledge required; Solidworks preferred

  • Knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing principles are a plus
