Job Description

This position is responsible for the manufacturing process definition of electro-mechanical sub-assemblies and finished products based on selected Advanced Product Quality Planning; (APQP) processes including: Process Failure Mode Analysis (PFMEA), Process flow, Control Plan, and Assembly Work Instructions for new and existing products which match with the production floor layout, while observing ITW’s In-Lining and MRD principles (Kanban, one-piece flow, parts and fixtures at point of use, custom parts packaging, etc.).




  • Improve assembly quality, in conjunction with Design Engineering, Quality Engineering and manufacturing employees, through defined operational metrics: Defects Per Unit (DPU), First Pass Yield (FPY), Scrap %, assembly hours, etc.
  • Performs product/parts specifications reviews and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) analysis to provide formal feedback to New Product Development (NPD) and Sustaining Engineering.
  • Implements engineering design changes and temporary deviations, keeping assembly work instructions, engineering drawings and documentation of production problems updated as needed.
  • Study operations sequence, material flow, provides inputs to Management regarding technical skills required for the different manufacturing process steps and helps to develop specific product training and generic technical training.
  • Responsible for the design and/or implementation of assembly tools, keeping safety and ergonomics in mind and to train the operators in the assembly process and use of related tools.
  • Collaborate with the NPD Engineering team to have a BOM properly structured for manufacturing and procurement processes and system updating.
  • Provides technical guidance to manufacturing operators for new process, sorting, testing, inspection activities as required, in collaboration with Quality Engineer and Manufacturing Supervisor.
  • Engaged in product measurement, inspection, and testing activities to ensure quality control and reliability.
  • Leads the continuous improvement process for the overall assembly process optimization, manufacturing hours reduction; either quick wins or more structured projects and quality improvements.
  • Able to prioritize solutions based on cost/investment and effort for implementation. Has a good business sense to create ROI analysis, and to generate cost savings for the company.
  • In more complex problems, should participate in a design for experiments, and other advance statistical analysis to resolve chronic manufacturing problem

Job Requirements

Required Experience

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering technology, or general engineering required in addition to five years of experience. 
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques (APQP), methodologies (Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA), tools (PFMEA), procedures and equipment to the production of various goods and services.
  • Familiarity of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Experienced working with circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.
  • Awareness of manufacturing tools, and experience working in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
  • Should have a proactive approach, high sense of urgency and preventive mind set to identify manufacturing problems as early as possible and to implement the necessary measures to deliver on time a quality product to our customers and keeping a safe environment for our Operators.
  • Customer focused, understanding the criticality of maintaining excellent Quality, Service/OTD and cost.  
  • Strong collaborator and able to partner with key cross functional teams such as: Design Engineering, Quality Engineering, Production, Procurement and Finance.
