Job Description

ITW Powertrain Metals Division serves major tier suppliers with tightly toleranced and innovative components for the automotive and industrial markets totaling approximately $300M in revenues globally. Plans and designs manufacturing processes and equipment in an industrial plant. Resolves technical problems and recommends improvements of production methods, determine manufacturing capacity, and set up production schedules. Provides support in the design, fabrication, modification and evaluation in support of manufacturing operations such as machining, metal forming, plastics processing, welding and brazing, assembly, and material handling. May assist in time and cost estimates. May lead smaller ITW Toolbox projects including In-Lining, MRD, PLS, and 80/20 evaluations. May assign work to drafters and technicians, technical writers, engineering technicians, and machine shop personnel as required. Requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and a minimum of 3 years of experience.

Position Objective: Support the manufacturing area by implementing new processes and investigating/implementing continuous improvement projects throughout the operation.

Essential Functions: 

Research, develop, and implement measurable process improvements and cost reduction strategies within specified time frames.

Assist in determining material handling, storage, and flow requirements.

Maintain facilities layout and prepare alternatives on the CAD program.

Investigate and specify the resources required to perform new processes.

Assist with capital expenditure planning.

Assist with the APQP process on new programs.

Input and support maintenance of routings, bills of material, and FMEA’s.

Assist outside processors with the start-up and trouble shooting of processes.

Develop, document and maintain process plans and machine operating instructions per internal requirements and per customer specifications.

Coordinate the delivery, set-up and start-up of new equipment.

Coordinate the preventative maintenance program.

Perform other duties as required or requested.


Job Requirements

Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mfg. Engineering or equivalent experience.

Personal computer experience with Microsoft office platform desired.

Familiarity with CAD systems, Solidworks design software preferred.

Experience in a metal stamping environment a plus.

Must be able to lift 50 1bs
